Play, display and replay: IKEA® and the LEGO Group introduce BYGGLEK – a creative solution that intertwines play and storage

Today, IKEA of Sweden AB and the LEGO Group reveals the long-awaited outcome of their collaboration. The two brands have joined forces to create a playful storage solution called BYGGLEK. Consisting of a series of storage boxes with LEGO® studs and a special LEGO brick set, the new BYGGLEK collection aims to encourage play and infuse more fun into storage around the home. The BYGGLEK collection will start to be available in existing IKEA retail channels throughout Europe (except Russia) and North America from October the 1st. The global roll-out will happen in 2020. IKEA introduces a new way to reduce indoor air pollution with a curtain

It will soon be possible to reduce common indoor air pollutants using just a curtain. A mineral-based surface treatment enables the new IKEA curtain to break down air pollutants when it gets in contact with daylight.

At the same time, the COVID crisis accelerated the company’s digital transformation as interest in home furnishings surged during lockdowns.

The 2019 YouGov rankings were compiled based on an index that measures of overall brand health – calculated by taking the average of Impression, Quality, Value, Satisfaction, Recommend, and Reputation. Scores are based on millions of online interviews conducted from the 12-month period from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

IKEA saves one million meals through food waste initiative

Being careful with resources is a core value for IKEA and with the Food is Precious initiative IKEA aims to cut food waste by 50% in all IKEA stores by August 2020. A little more than a year since the rollout of the initiative IKEA has diminished food waste that is equivalent to one million meals.* To put that into context; one million meals could feed one thousand people for a whole year. With one-third of all food harvested or produced around the world being lost or thrown away, everyday IKEA wants to inspire and enable people to think differently about food waste and incorporate sustainability into their everyday life.
