Reviews

Natural and Textured CharmAnonymous reviewerThe RAKLEV rug has a beautiful, woven rattan-like texture that adds a rustic, natural touch to any room. It’s not soft underfoot, but it’s durable and perfect for grounding a space with an organic, earthy look.5
PerfectIvyWe bought this out of whim - with fingers crossed that it would fit our coffee nook - and it did. It’s amazing how pretty this rug is.5
Rug mostly pleasesValuedWe really like it, but we have it in front of the kitchen sink, and maybe not the best spot. The colorful pieces on this rug are bumpy and they feel like a fold in the rug, and it’s concerning that apparently you can’t wash it at all. We’ll see how it goes. Sure looks good though.5

Form design process

Made using the hand loom weaving technique

In a hand loom, horizontal strands (the weft), are woven over and under vertical strands (the warp), repeatedly until the rug is complete. Depending on the complexity of the design, producing a rug with this technique can take from a few days up to several weeks. Unlike other techniques, such as hand-tufting, a hand loom does not produce a pile, rather it creates an even and flat surface. This technique allows for intricate designs and patterns and the rugs tend to be lightweight yet durable. They are also reversible and easy to clean, making them a practical and popular choice.

Material

What is jute?

Jute is a very hardwearing fiber that is found in the stem of the jute plant. It’s an easy-to-grow plant that requires very little fertilizer, pesticides or water and is ready to harvest after only 120 days. The jute fiber is often used for ropes and sacks but is also known for its silky-smooth luster and can be spun into finer threads which are then woven. In our range we often use woven jute for items like curtains, rugs and furniture.
