Create a flexible working space at home

Planning a workspace at home is not really all that different from planning a professional office. The main difference is that the space used for working may also be a space for other activities. And perhaps even shared by other family members rather than colleagues.

A laptop stand and pillows for the back are home office essentials that provide extra comfort when working with a computer in bed or on a sofa. The laptop stand eliminates uncomfortable heat generated by the laptop.

Tips of achieving comfort when working from home

For longer periods by a screen, arms and wrists need support. The keyboard and mouse should be placed 10-15 cm from the edge of the desk.

The most comfortable distance between the eyes and a computer screen is 50-70 cm, or about the full length of the arm.

Placing mobile devices at an angle alleviates strain on the neck and shoulders.

How to set up and use a flexible workspace for your well-being

1. Getting your posture right

The monitor should be tilted at 20-30 degrees, which is an optimal angle for the eyes as well as the neck and shoulders.

The top of your work surface should be elbow height and your elbows should be at a 90 degree angle when sitting or standing at your desk.

2. Selecting the right chair

Comfortable office chairs mean more time concentrating on the job. Our Philippine work from home furniture includes swivel chairs that come with features like armrests, height-adjustable seats, lumbar support and ergonomic designs that your body will love.

The ideal chair height is when the hips and knees are at a 95-100 degrees angle and the feet are flat on the floor.

It should be possible to stretch the legs under the table and turn 90 degrees to the left and right for freedom and flexibility.

An active sit/stand support is a perfect complement to a sit/stand desk and helps to vary position during the day.

3. Lighting for workspace

When it comes to a work area, the matter of lighting plays an important role. Whether at your home office or your desk, the right lighting can aid in productivity, mood, and alertness. Let's take a look at a few tips to help you get the best lighting options for your workspace.
