Cinnamon French toast with ice cream

Unexpected guests? No worries! Just remember this classic last-minute trick – a super-simple recipe that turns stale, leftover cinnamon buns into a fancy dessert in no time.

Serves: 4 | Time:  15 minutes

Ingredients:

Cinnamon French toast
4 KAFFEREP cinnamon buns, baked and preferably a few days old
2 eggs
1 1/2 dl wheat flour
1 1/2 dl milk
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Butter for frying

Topping
Almonds, chopped
Fresh berries or jam
Ice cream
Icing sugar

Step by step:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, flour, and milk until the batter is smooth.
  2. Cut the cinnamon buns in half, and then into slices.
  3. Mix cinnamon and sugar on a plate.
  4. Place the bun slices in the batter and leave to soak for 5 minutes.
  5. Fry the bun slices in butter on medium heat until they have a nice golden color on both sides.
  6. Roll the fried cinnamon buns in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  7. Serve the cinnamon bun French toasts on a large, decorative plate with scoops of ice cream, fresh berries, and chopped almonds, then dust the dessert with icing sugar. Enjoy!
