This doesn't have soft close drawersMunGiven how IKEA ALWAYS include soft close drawers in their better quality furniture, I took this for granted. Nope, the drawers all slam shut extra loud at night because that's how I close my drawers - extra hard. It took me forever to assemble the frame, since you gotta do the center, the left and the right, then do the drawers. I couldn't find a sideboard that has functional drawers from local furniture shops so I opted for this. Usually sideboards only have open-close doors that I really don't like. Bending down and peering in to get your stuff from the sideboard is bad for your back. Drawers are fantastic for this. MALM is perfect for my needs. It is at a wonderful height to put down stuff on the surface too. You could try BESTA, but BESTA is too low and you got to stack them if you want them higher. After comparing the price, MALM is way better valued. The build is pretty sturdy. Will it last? Yes I think so after using it. You might not like how they did the drawer's base. It's just a thin sheet supported by a steel beam. I wasn't sure of this while I was assembling it but after using it, it is surprisingly sturdy!5

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure.
