At IKEA, we believe every action counts, and by leading by example and working hand in hand with our community, we are moving forward toward a more responsible future while creating lasting positive change.
We have big ambitions for 2030. We are committed to doing our part to tackle climate change, unsustainable consumption, and inequality. Our three major focus areas are Healthy & sustainable living, Circular & climate positive and Fair & equal.
Social: Together, let's make a difference
Earthquake Relief
In response to the earthquake in September 2023, IKEA Morocco united as a community to launch the Earthquake Relief Project, delivering immediate and long-term support across the country.
- Emergency Aid: Distribution of food, water, and hygiene kits to families in need. Our coworkers ran a blood donation drive to in collaboration with local paramedics
- Local Collaboration: Partnering with organizations to ensure timely and effective aid.
- Rebuilding Lives: Donating furniture to help furnish homes and support long-term recovery.
- Customer and Coworkers: Customers and coworkers were able to contribute to donating food or household items through our stores.
Together, we remain committed to rebuilding and supporting communities in need.
United in Community and Giving during Ramadan
During Ramadan, the spirit of community and togetherness especially connecting to the community engagement.
In the past year more than 1,100 meals and food baskets have been distributed to local NGOs and the community.
More than 200 ramadan baskets distributed for all IKEA coworkers and third parties working with us in the store
Community garden of IKEA Cabo
The IKEA Community Garden is a space dedicated to community engagement, learning, and creativity. Through interactive workshops, we inspire and empower both coworkers and customers to plant and grow their own gardens, whether in outdoor spaces or at home, nurturing a deeper connection with nature.
Circular donations to NGOs
Through our circular donation initiative, we are committed to giving items a second life while supporting our community. Instead of letting quality furniture and goods go to waste, we upcycle and upholster them, transforming them into valuable resources for those in need.
Transforming a Children’s Home
We have transformed a children’s home into a warm and inviting space that radiates playfulness and personality, creating an environment where the kids feel truly at home. Every detail was designed with their comfort and joy in mind, giving them a sense of belonging and a place they can proudly call their own
Inspiring Change Through Workshops and Community Engagement
All year round, we are passionate about engaging with the community, sharing knowledge, and learning together through local sports events, responsible consumption campaigns, and in-store workshops on sustainability and best practices.
