After I've assembled a piece of furniture, can I disassemble it and then assemble it again?
Although most IKEA furniture is flat-pack furniture, it's not designed to be disassembled after you assemble it for the first time. After you disassemble and reassemble a piece of furniture, the quality of the product can be degraded by creating more space between screw holes and parts than originally existed.
When you have to disassemble large furniture to move house, keep the following in mind as you disassemble and reassemble your furniture.
- Always check the assembly structure in the assembly instructions before you start to disassemble furniture.

- Parts without metal screw receivers are attached by wedging screws in screw holes.
These screws may lose their strength if they are removed once. When parts are attached with cam locks, disassemble the parts by unlocking them.

- Try not to disassemble parts that are nailed together, for example, backboards.
If you must disassemble such parts, make sure to cause as little damage as possible. When reassembling your furniture, do not hammer in nails in the same places as before.
A frame warps easily when not supported by a backboard. Disassemble the top, bottom, and sides as well before transporting your furniture.
