After I've assembled a piece of furniture, can I disassemble it and then assemble it again?

While some IKEA furniture can be disassembled and reassembled depending on the product specifications, it's not designed for repeated disassembly. Doing so may affect its structural integrity and could void the warranty. At your own discretion, it may be possible to disassemble some items by reversing the steps in the assembly instructions.

  • While it is at the customer's discretion, some IKEA products can be disassembled and reassembled.
When disassembling, please be sure to have the assembly instructions ready and proceed while confirming the structure.

  • Screw-fixed parts: If there is no metal fitting on the receiving side of the screw, the screw is fixed by shaving the screw hole. Removing it may lead to a decrease in strength.
  • Cam locks: For parts fixed with cam locks, please disassemble by releasing the cam lock.

  • Nailed parts (back panels, etc.): Please avoid disassembling nailed parts as much as possible. If disassembly is necessary, proceed with extreme care to avoid damaging the parts, and when re-nailing, avoid the previously nailed spots.
