What is the IKEA Group’s position on charitable activities and donations?

Rather than simply giving charitable donations and funding, the policy of the IKEA Group is to actively form partnerships and implement projects.

IKEA focuses its efforts on social projects that address the needs of children, in close coordination with its partner organisations UNICEF and Save the Children. IKEA also works with the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and prioritises environmental projects. Each IKEA locations donates to local projects, supporting events and addressing educational needs.     IKEA considers wood to be an amazing material, both functionally and environmentally. However, wood is only an environmentally friendly material when we harvest it from well-managed forests. IKEA plans to procure all wood used for IKEA products from well-managed, certified forests in the future. IKEA actively works with partner groups such as the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to expand its use of certified forests. IKEA suppliers must submit documents showing where they procured the wood used for IKEA products. IKEA carries out selective audits in which the IKEA Forestry Specialist Team investigates suppliers' compliance with IKEA requirements, going so far as to visit the forests where their wood is grown. IKEA has also secured cooperation from the FSC-certified SmartWood for external third party auditing.
