Welcome to the IKEA way of working

At IKEA, we are values driven and passionate about our customers as well as co-workers. After all, it's not every day you find a place that ensures day care facilities and customised training for its people. Besides that, our 50/50 gender ratio makes sure that you are never the only woman in the room. To top it all, our late night transportation gets you home safely, always. And opportunities? We did say we keep some of our best chairs for women, didn't we? And, by the way, we have a lot of chairs.

A look at what we do

There’s a lot more to the home furnishing business than you might think! We offer opportunities in a broad range of fields.

Maximise your work life

Working at the IKEA Group means that you are part of an inspiring, fun and fast-paced environment. We’re the world’s largest home furnishing retailer, with 155,000 co-workers and operations in 43 countries (figure for FY15), but we value working in a non-bureaucratic way. Here you can always be yourself. In fact, we actively encourage it! At IKEA, we respect each other, our differences and are open to everyone making a contribution. So no matter where you work in the world, you’ll most likely rub shoulders with a diverse group of people – with different backgrounds, special skills and a quirky sense of humour.

A day in the life of IKEA Co-workers

We believe in people

We believe in giving down-to-earth, straight-forward people the possibility to grow, both as individuals and in their professional roles, so that together we are strongly committed to creating a better everyday life for ourselves and our customers.

Working with us has its rewards

We believe in people. Each of our co-workers brings their unique ideas and talent to work every day – they are what makes IKEA great. We want to make sure every co-worker feels welcomed and valued, and has the opportunity to develop their potential. Because when our co-workers grow, so does IKEA. So no matter where you are in the world, you’ll have a variety of benefits

Bonus programme

The One IKEA Bonus programme is a bonus system for all IKEA Group co-workers, based on performance. It is based on our values of simplicity and togetherness, with everyone in the same unit working towards the same objectives. Sharing goals helps us to work together as one IKEA.

Tack! co-worker loyalty program

It’s our co-workers that make IKEA what it is. As a way of saying thank you – for great work and for being a vital part of our success – there’s the loyalty program Tack! Through Tack! (meaning “thank you” in Swedish) all our eligible co-workers get an extra contribution to their pension funds. Unit, position or salary don’t matter – everyone within a country receives the same amount.

Learning and growing

We invest in our co-workers’ development by offering a variety of internal training programmes – for those who want to learn something new and grow. Every IKEA co-worker also gets the opportunity to create a development plan. Together with your manager, you set goals for the coming year and the future.

The living wage

As a values-driven organisation, we believe in providing a meaningful wage to our co-workers that supports the cost of living and this is why we were the first large retail employer to commit to paying the Living Wage and becoming an accredited member of the Living wage Foundation.
