What are the types of mattresses available at IKEA?
IKEA offers a variety of mattresses to suit different preferences and needs. We can help you to choose the right mattress at IKEA.
When it comes to mattresses, we know that one size doesn’t fit all. Everyone has unique needs and sleep preferences. That's why we provide a diverse selection of mattresses, available in various materials, support levels, and price ranges.
Spring Mattresses
- Consists of a box of polyurethane foam and polyester wadding into which the spring core is placed.
- The open spring construction allows air to circulate, so you won't feel too warm.
- Spring mattresses offer great support by distributing your body weight evenly.
- Your weight is spread evenly over the whole mattress.
- There’s not too much pressure on any part of your body.
- They include at least one layer of foam for added comfort.
- You can get the comfort level that’s right for you with a mattress topper and a slatted bed base or mattress base.
- Spring mattresses are extremely durable.
- Available in firm and medium firm.
Springs used in our range:
- Bonnell springs
- Hour-glass shaped springs.
- Relatively few are used in each mattress as they are relatively large.
- Pocket springs
- Have spirals that work independently from each other, providing support that follows the body's movements very closely.
- The spirals are encased in pockets of "nonwoven“ material (a type of cellu-lose fibre), which are then bonded together along their length and glued between the rows along their breadth.
- As these springs have smaller diameter, many are used in a mattress.
- The pocket springs we use at IKEA are protected by a patent that we have the full rights to and this helps us keep prices down.
Foam Mattresses
- Soft and resilient.
- Because there’s no extra pressure on any part of your body, they facilitate blood circulation and help you fully relax.
- Foam mattresses also absorb the shock of movement, making them a great choice if you have a partner that tosses and turns at night.
Coir Foam Mattresses
- Natural materials like natural latex, coconut fiber, cotton, wool and lyocell provides extra comfort and gives a very pleasant sleeping environment with an even temperature.
- The mattress provides good ventilation and sleeping comfort because the bottom layer is made of natural coconut fibres that allow air to circulate.
- The coconut fibres inside the mattress are very durable and hardwearing, which helps the mattress to stay pliable and firm for a long time.
Memory Foam Mattresses
- Memory foam is polyurethane foam with additional chemicals to increase its vis-cosity and density.
- Memory foam can feel firm in low temperatures but softens in reaction to body heat and weight.
- This allows it to mould precisely to your body in a few minutes.
- Provide support by molding to the shape of your body and distributing your weight evenly.
Latex mattresses
- Latex mattresses are available in different comforts and have holes that allow air to circulate.
- Latex is dense and the mattresses can therefore feel heavy.
- Latex mattresses are supple, and follow the contours of the body closely.
- Latex also absorbs the shock of body movements so you're not disturbed if your partner moves in bed.
