    • IKEA Soft Toys Drawing Competition 2018

      Terms and Conditions

      Entry Requirements

      1. IKEA Limited (in cooperation with IKEA of Sweden AB, P.O. BOX 317, 83020 Hackås, Sweden, VAT: SE5560747551) is hereafter referred to as “IKEA”.

      2. The competition will be open at all IKEA stores and Order and Collection Points (“OCP”) within the UK (excluding Tottenham Court Road Planning Studio) between the following dates: 22.10.2018 and 13.11.2018. Dates for each store may vary, please visit the store "What's on in store?" page on our website for details on your local store competition. This competition is open to children with parents or guardians who are IKEA FAMILY members. Children must be under 12 years of age. IKEA employees and their immediate families are excluded from the competition.

      3. IKEA reserves the right at any time to require any IKEA FAMILY member that enters the prize draw to provide proof of identity and / or eligibility to enter the prize draw. If the participant is required to provide such evidence and fails to do so, IKEA at its sole discretion may disqualify the participant from the competition. IKEA will collect and handle such personal data in accordance with all applicable Data Protection legislation.

      4. No purchase or any other fee payment is necessary in order to participate in the competition.

      5. Children under 12 years of age intending to participate in the competition must have the consent of their parent or guardian to do so. Consent is presumed if the parent or guardian has followed the child at the competition and has proved his/her membership in IKEA FAMILY to the IKEA employee in charge of the competition. Parental supervision is also required during the participation of the competition.

      6. Only one (1) entry can be made by each individual child. Each child participant cannot be assisted in his/her participation by parents, guardians or any third parties. Any such entries will be disqualified. Late or incomplete entries will also be disqualified.

      7. Each participant’s drawing must be completed on A4 or Letter sized white paper. The materials used to complete the design will consist of pens / paint and paper supplied by IKEA. No other materials can be used to complete the design.

      8. Each participant and his/her parent or guardian must indicate on the back of the design their first name, last name, age, and their parent or guardian’s IKEA FAMILY membership number and contact details.

      How to participate

      9. To enter the competition, participants will be invited to attend their local IKEA store/OCP. On attendance, participants will be asked to make a drawing of their “dream” soft toy.

      10. Each IKEA store/OCP will select three (3) drawings out of all the entries (“Store Level Finalists”). The three (3) Store Level Finalists will be put forward by each IKEA store/OCP to the UK Service Office. These Store Level Finalists are identified based on a decision made by the in-store Marketing team. The criteria for identifying the Store Level Finalists are the same as those outlined in clause 11 below.

      11. Out of the Store Level Finalists, a shortlist of twenty (20) drawings (“Country Level Finalists”) will be put forward by the Service Office. The 20 Country Level Finalists are identified based on voting by an independent judging panel formed by competent IKEA employees.

      12. The twenty (20) drawings from the Country Level Finalists will then be sent to IKEA of Sweden AB where a judging panel will pick five (5) winning drawings out of all entries from participating countries (“International Level Winner”). The judging panel consists of children’s product development specialists (Product Developer, Product Development Engineer, Product Designer, Supply Planner, and Commercial Team Representative) at IKEA of Sweden AB.

      13. Criteria for judging and picking drawings is based on news value, uniqueness, commercial potential and possibility to manufacture as soft toys. The five (5) International Level Winners will be chosen based on the above criteria. For the avoidance of doubt, there is no guarantee that a winning drawing will be selected from a UK entry.

      14. Participants are eligible to receive a diploma and/or a small gift for submitting an entry to the competition. For the avoidance of doubt, the provision of any diploma and/or gift to participants is at the sole discretion of each IKEA store/OCP in the UK and there is no guarantee that participants will receive a diploma or gift.

      15. All Country Level Finalists will receive a small gift. The small gift will be determined by IKEA, the approximate value of which will be £20 and in any event no more than £20.

      16. All International Level Winners will receive one (1) soft toy each, created by IKEA, from their own drawings. There will be five (5) International Level Winners in total. Not all Country Level Finalists or Store Level Finalists will become International Level Winners and therefore will not receive a soft toy from their own drawing.

      17. All prizes are non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash or credit alternatives will be given in exchange for the whole, or any part of the prizes. IKEA reserves the right to substitute the prize with another prize or equivalent value, in the event of force majeure. Any eventual tax debt that arises out of or in connection to the prize received will be paid by the winner.

      18. IKEA reserves the absolute right to select an alternative winner and award the prize to another participant in the event that IKEA has reasonable grounds to believe that a participant has acted in a way which is inconsistent and contrary with these terms and conditions or has acted in a way which IKEA considers to be inappropriate, unlawful, or offensive.

      19. The shortlisted participants and International Level Winners will be notified by e-mail and phone.

      20. IKEA will make the decision as to those who have won the competition. This decision is final. No correspondence on any matter concerning the competition winners will be entered into with any IKEA FAMILY member.

      26. By entering this competition, participants and their parent/guardian consent to this information being used in this way without further consent, notification or compensation.

      27. Information collected from participants and/or their parent/guardian will only be disclosed to third parties if they are the winner and to third parties who need to know this information in order to enable the delivery of the prize to the prize winner. By entering this competition, you provide us with consent to disclose your personal information in this way, notwithstanding that such third parties may be located outside the European Economic Area. IKEA will also share this information with other IKEA companies. Again, these companies may be based outside of the European Economic Area.

      28. Where the age of participant is 12 years or less, consent to enter the competition is required from their parent/guardian. By permitting their child to enter this competition, each IKEA FAMILY member consents to IKEA processing the personal information of their child in accordance with the way that has been described in these terms and conditions.

      29. All competition entries must be the original work of the participant. Any intellectual property rights including copyright and design rights in the drawings provided by participants, including in the winning entries and in toys made to the designs provided in the competition entries, shall belong to IKEA from the point at which the competition entries are provided to IKEA.

      30. The five (5) International Level Winners whose drawings are purposed for commercial use will have no rights in the designs or to receive any remuneration, reward or other benefit as a result of the use of their design other than the prizes provided for in these terms and conditions. IKEA will not develop products based on any of the non-winners in the competition. Under circumstances that any of the five (5) International Level Winners designs are not possible to manufacture or commercialise, IKEA reserves the right to remove this product from the product offer to be commercialised and exchange it with a product based on another drawing from any of the entries.

      31. This competition and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it, shall be governed and construed in accordance with laws of England and Wales and all participants agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
