Our safety feature Anchor and unlock enhances the safety of your chest of drawers by significantly reducing, but not completely eliminating, the tip-over risk.
The safety feature means that the chest of drawers must be anchored to the wall in order to open more than one drawer at a time, which creates a safer environment at home.
By anchoring the chest of drawer to the wall, you unlock the safety feature and can open all the drawers simultaneously when needed.
The frame is easy to assemble thanks to the clever construction with wedge dowels that are easily pressed into the pre-drilled holes.

Robust replacementAnonymous reviewerBought this chest of drawers to replace a 15ish year old Malm unit that had all but fallen apart. Was pleasantly surprised how easy it went together and its robust back panels plus little drawer bottom supports. The drawer action is smooth too. It took a minute or two to understand the drawer opening solo or not option but worked it out - I went for standard function, able to open multiple drawers simultaneously. Its only a few weeks old but if it lasts anywhere near as long as the previous Malm, I'll be happy.
Nice design, good finish and different size drawers optionsAnonymous reviewerWe like the design and having different size of drawers, it makes it very useful and practical. The unit is really nice when put together. A bit complicated to assemble, the instruction document can be improved.
The reason I gave 4 out of five is that the new locking mechanism is only functional if you secure the chest of drawers to a wall. We'd loved to have both together. So when the anchor in attached to the wall the clicking noise/smooth locking system won't work. The instruction is very confusing when you want to check how the locking system really works. So you pay for extra feature and the mechanism has been put in place but it doesn't work. Basically you should be able to secure the unit to a wall if you want to and locking mechanism also work.

Well madeAnonymous reviewerThis drawer set is absolutely fantastic. It did take over 2 hours to put together but it was worth it. It’s amazingly big for the price. The whole structure is very strong and the fact that you can’t open more than one drawer at a time unless it’s fixed to the wall is a great safety feature. I’m very happy with the space in each drawer and I love how expensive it looks and feels. The drawers feel solid and the drawer sliders move with ease. Definitely one of my best buys from Ikea. Would highly recommend.

Not the best from Ikea Anonymous reviewerWe have bought lots and lots of units from Ikea over the years, but the quality on this one was not as good as usual. The instructions are very poor and hard to follow. Once you work them out it goes together ok but once built feels a bit cheap, which it certainly isn't.
That said the draw space is really good and once fixed to the wall its sturdy enough

The only downside is putting it together the instructions supplied are not great. Had to find a YouTube video to show how to put it together.
Weak MDF drawers and a massive hassle to assembleAnonymous reviewerIt is a nice-looking unit but the drawer sections are incredibly weak as they're constructed out of very brittle and loose MDF. The locking 'safety' mechanism is pointless as the unit is very stable and would be very difficult to tip. I've bought much cheaper and better units from IKEA in the past. Not worth the money (or hassle) at all, especially given so much of the increased cost is surely in the pointless 'safety' mechanism.
Good but priceyAnonymous reviewerBought this to replace a Malm chest which was too wide for the box room . Task Tabbit assembled for me. We were impressed by the quality and the feature whereby only one drawer can open at a time. The price however is steep at £199. Not including delivery and assembly. Hope it lasts several years. Why don’t IKEA make a Malm that is 60-70cm wide?
