Combine this bed frame with a slatted bed base with a max. thickness of 4 cm to keep the slats hidden in the frame. The slats of a higher bed base may be visible along the sides of the bed.

Terrible bedAnonymous reviewerI recently purchased and assembled this single bed for my 15-year-old son, and unfortunately, it has been extremely disappointing. Every single movement he makes causes noise, which makes it very difficult for him to sleep comfortably.
Initially, I thought the issue might be the mattress, as I had also bought the Valevag pocket sprung mattress. To try and fix the problem, I returned it on 09/04/2026 and exchanged it for the Afjall foam mattress. Sadly, this made no difference at all—the bed is just as noisy.
After making two separate trips to IKEA, each over an hour each way, my son is still left with a bed he cannot sleep on. The whole experience has been incredibly frustrating and upsetting.
I would not recommend this bed.
Vihals bed frameAnonymous reviewerVery disappointed I had malm bed before and never had problems was very good i moved had to buy smaller bed frame for my new orthopaedic mattress was140x190so I coudnt find any bed fit this mattress so I decided to purchase vihals bed frame but not happy there is some metal stuff underneath the bed is making a noise when any movement from the bed annoys me since first day i slept on it and the head board very short my pillows touching the wall I didn’t expected like this
Appalling qualityAnonymous reviewerThe load bearing parts of this bed - the headboard and footend - are not solid MDF, just an MDF frame with the rest it being filled with cardboard wadding. The frame width is 2.2cm on the horizontal and 1.5cm on the vertical, just enough to hold the screws. That is not going to support a mattress and two people for very long.
I discovered this because after a few months of light use the bed fell apart.
I took the broken bits in store and was refused a refund as I was told that there was no warranty on this item.
I remembered I was surprised when I assembled it how light the headboard and footend were, now I know why. Be aware that what you are buying here is basically a mostly cardboard bed with no warranty to fall back on when it breaks which it almost certainly will.
