You can move the shelves in 3 different positions, which makes it possible to place the shelf unit against a wall or between two desks without it taking up extra space.
The shelf unit is easy to fix in place or remove as needed since it has screw mounts.
The screw mounts have a soft surface that protects the top of the table from scratches and pressure marks.

Update to previous 1 starAnonymous reviewerThe 1st item, the screw holes were too small in one of the L-brackets (assumed from previous version stock). Ikea don't sell the L-bracket so they replaced the whole unit.
Putting together was much easier this time and customer service was excellent. My tip in the build is to test screws fit first.
When screwing in the L-bracket, it's easier to finger screw one in first without the 3rd metal support. This let's you line up the second screw and finger tighten. Remove your first screw and line up the clamp and re-screw in. It will make sense when you have the instructions. If you don't do that, it can be quite fiddly.
The unit itself is great but sounds tinny when touched. Plastic might do better acoustically but probably wouldn't last.
Overall happy with the product. Very happy with CS.
Quality control - screw holes different.Anonymous reviewerOne L-bracket takes screws absolutely fine with fingers to initially tighten. The other L-bracket will not as the holes are too small. I thought perhaps the paint was too thick but even after the threads are bare metal, the screw won't fit at all. The other reviews mention holes too big so maybe this bracket is from old stock before the screws were changed? I need either a new bracket which doesn't have a part number in the manual or 2 screws to fit. Disappointing as it will cost me more than the value to commute to return. I'd prefer a replacement bracket posted.
