Reviews

Absolutely WASTE of money Anonymous reviewerI bought the item, was thinking good product, but absolutely waste of money, unfortunately IKEA refused to refund.1
Excellent after properly seasoningAnonymous reviewerI can see many people here do not know how to use carbon steel pans despite clear instructions and then leave bad reviews. I was impressed how cleanly my fried egg slid off the pan after seasoning. The smallest size is perfect for omelettes! It’s quite weighty, which I like.5
the worst quality I've seenAnonymous reviewerThe worst quality I've ever encountered. After frying eggplant for the first time, I couldn't wash it by hand and put it in the dishwasher. It's dishwasher safe, but afterward, rust stains appeared both inside and outside the pan.1
Excellent valueAnonymous reviewerThis has replaced our previous cardin steel pan because it works so well. Even heat distribution and great non stock once seasoned. And this cost less than our previous pan. Great value.5
great pan for a great price !Anonymous reviewerthis is a great pan made of quality steel while not being too heavy. when properly seasoned and well looked after it performs great. all of the low star reviews complaining about rusting are clearly not looking after it properly (properly seasoning, not putting in dishwasher, thoroughly drying after washing, and applying a thin layer of oil once dry if you’re in a humid environment) the only thing that could be improved is the way the handle is attached at the open rivets are more likely collect grime/rust over time but it should still last plenty of years and is absolutely amazing for the price !5
Great frying pan, but it requires patience from day one.Anonymous reviewerI followed the tiny manual and seasoned the pan 3 times until it turned light brown. For the first test, I sautéed vegetable scraps and rinsed it with hot water. Then, I cooked chicken wings. When trying to flip them, they stuck a bit and lost some skin. I wondered if I’d been fooled. But on the other side, I stayed patient for more minutes. When I flipped them, they had a beautiful golden crust. I knew I did it right! However, during the first wash, I impatiently used steel wool and scraped off the seasoning. After drying it, I reheated the pan and applied lard to re-season it. I now repeat this maintenance after every wash. Since then, no pork, beef, lamb, or chicken sticks at all. This pan demands proper seasoning, immense patience, and some troubleshooting with A.I. But if you put in the effort, you get an affordable, amazing pan with excellent Maillard reaction. Hope this helps anyone frustrated with this pan regain their joy of cooking.5
I'm disappointed with product and the way my complaint was handledAnonymous reviewerBought and seasoned before first use as instructions advised. Started rusting after first two uses. Wanted to return it as its been less than 3 weeks in which I tried everything to stop the rust from coming back. Even tried oiling it as soon as i dry it. Return got denied customer service saying there's no quality issue. The other reviews this pan has seem to disagree. I was then accused of not following instructions of use. It is a pan. It should not require more than two brain cells to use it correctly. There are runaway retards out there in the woods boiling mushrooms and what not in leaves over a camping fire having a better cooking experience than this pan is trying to sell you for £30. Cracking an egg on the bins outside during the heatwave would probably be a safer eating experience.1
Properly Seasoned, Poor PerformanceAnonymous reviewerI carefully followed the seasoning instructions before the first use, hoping to get great performance from this pan. Unfortunately, it has been a nightmare ever since. Despite seasoning it exactly as directed, food sticks badly, burns easily, and the cooking surface has become increasingly difficult to use. The pan now looks and performs worse than when it was new, and cleaning it is a constant struggle. Very disappointing, especially after taking the time to prepare it properly. I would not buy this again. Would love to have my money back.1
Stained after one useAnonymous reviewerI won’t clean properly and it has been used once. Disappointed.1
Rust after first washAnonymous reviewerI washed it before use like you should do, put it to dry and noticed rust droplets on the tea towel. But ignore it! Today we used it, first time, even when we followed the instructions all the food stuck to the pan, and now it’s stained really bad and the rust droplets are more visible. Shame we can’t attach pictures. Don’t spend £30 on it!1
A professional panAnonymous reviewerA superb pan. If you are a good cook or a chef, you will not buy better than this. It is superb has tens of uses. It makes the best tart tatans and it cooks a perfect pizza (pan on the stove drop the pizza dough that’s slightly add your toppings straight into the oven for 10 minutes. You’ll never need to go to Zizzis again. follow the instructions keep the panel well seasoned and it will last forever.5
Not non stick, rust after the first use! Anonymous reviewerI follow the instructions on how to season the pan before the first use. I use this to fry an egg, the egg got stuck to the bottom totally. Clean and dry the pan according to the instruction after the first use, it just got rust after I took it out to use for the second time. Try to season it again after the second use. No luck , still rust. I won’t recommend this frying pan! 2
Rusty frying pan!!!Anonymous reviewerIf I could give a 0 star for this product I would. It is very unlike IKEA to sell such bad quality product and at an exorbitant price!. I can’t believe I spent £25 on this and £29 on the larger one. Now I’m stuck with two brand new rusted frying pans. 1
Heavy and difficult to use for everyday cookingAnonymous reviewerThis pan is much heavier than expected and quite difficult to use. Food burns and sticks easily unless I use a lot of oil, which makes it inconvenient for everyday cooking. Cleaning after use is also troublesome because the bottom gets burnt quickly. It might work better for steak or fish, but I would not recommend it for regular stir frying.1
Magnificent pan if you know how to useAnonymous reviewerAll these negative reviews are from people who have not taken the time to season this pan, it’s a fantastic pan once you’ve seasoned it. Great for searing, responds well to heat changes. Please go on YouTube and watch how to season a pan before using!5
The very best frying pans, if seasoned properly from the beginningAnonymous reviewerFirstly, ignore all the reviews here, about the pans blackening or not returning to original colour, or food sticking. Clearly written by people who don't understand how to treat carbon steel. (If you want something bright and shiny, buy stainless steel) Carbon steel needs to be treated with respect, so prepare the pans accordingly. In addition to the instructions given, I also add the stage of "blueing" the pan. so as follows: 1: scour the pan with wire wool and detergent to remove the factory protective layer, and dry thoroughly. 2: Over a high heat (I use gas) heat the pan until it discolours all over, moving the pan over the gas. it goes brown first, then blue. 3: in accordance with the instructions, heating until it smokes, with a little oil to coat at the surface. 4: Once cool, wipe pan - if there are any rough areas, use a little wire wool to buff, then repeat stage 3. Be prepared to do the re-oiling as required. Never use detergent - it just dissolves the finish.5
As good as any pan of its typeAnonymous reviewerIf it's carbon steel you're looking for these pans are excellent. The gauge is 3mm and heavy. They are good to go in the oven. You must season them and use them properly and often. If you go wrong you can scour them with metal and start again. Great value compared to the specialist brands. Hot water and a brush is how I clean them. A quick soak is ok. Get the surface smooth but don't try to remove colour. Dry and give a blast of heat to prevent rusting. Those would be my tips.5
Great pan, great priceAnonymous reviewerAfter a couple of months of use, I can safely say this is one of the best pans I've used and it keeps getting better with each use. It heats up quickly and evenly, and seasoned correctly it's properly non-stick. Easy to season (as long as you ignore the included instructions - do your own research on it!), great to cook with, and easy to clean. Just familiarise yourself with the strengths and limitations of a carbon steel pan first - they're not suitable for everything, and may not be for everyone, but I couldn't be happier with mine. I'm sure it will last me a very long time.5
Disappointing qualityAnonymous reviewerLow quality, gives food a metallic after taste, it blackens and it doesn't return it's colour1
Perfect pansAnonymous reviewerFantastic value carbon steel pans. Some people have reviewed negatively. They will rust if not oiled. These are pans for life as you can scrub them and re season.5
