Cheap design - control knob uselessAnonymous reviewerConfirming what other people are saying - the control knob is extremely poor quality, cheap plastic.
Ours just snapped this evening, I really hope I don't have to replace the entire unit based on one substandard component!

Very noisy and hard to fitAnonymous reviewerI've just had this extractor fan installed as part of a wider Ikea kitchen installation. Firstly, the installer had terrible difficulty fixing the extractor tube into the tight space behind the cabinet, and I've found the tube was not correctly attached, so I've had to reattach it myself. Secondly, the extractor fan is very noisy - it rattles at first, but then settles into a loud whirring noise. It seems to work ok, but is much noisier than I expected. On the positive side, it looks smart and is nicely concealed into the Metod wall cabinet. It's also easy to operate. I just hope the control know lasts, though, as I've read reviews that it breaks easily. 2
Great extractorAnonymous reviewerThis is a really great extractor and the light is fab too. Easy to fit.5
Light have failed and can’t seem to find replacements Anonymous reviewerThe overall fan design is discreet, we have had no issues with the control knob at all so that been fine. We have had both lights separately stop working and we can’t seem to find replacement parts frustratingly. The lights went after 3 years. It would be great to be able to source these replacement parts. 2
The energy efficacy is great, but not the designAnonymous reviewerI haven't encountered the knob problem yet since I have just bought and installed it.
The reason why I still buy this product is because of its high energy efficacy, but the design really make me down when I tried to follow the instuction book.
There are 3 major design problems.
1. The space left between the board of METOD
Wall cb frm f b-in extractor hood, white, 60x37x60 cm is so narrow which I cannot tighten the tube on it.
2. It fits with METOD Wall cb frm f b-in extractor hood, white, 60x37x60 cm, but doesn't fit with UTRUSTA Hinge w b-in damper for kitchen, 153° at all. You just can't close the foor if you use 153° hinge. But there was no warning on product and no one in store told me about this to stopped me buying this hinge.
3. The instruction asked me to install the tube from the top of the carbinet but it doesn't make sense. A wall cabinet for an extractor hook should be installed near to the ceiling. So the tube scrached the ceiling paint off.1
So far so goodAnonymous reviewerWorks well no issues at all. I thought it would come with filters but they are separate. I think £30.005
Very pleased with this brilliantAnonymous reviewerVery pleased with this brilliant extractor.5
Let down by the plastic control knobAnonymous reviewerLooking at other reviews, I don't know if the issue can be resolved! The unit is controlled by a single button that is then twisted to switch on the fan and control the speed. The plastic control knob is flimsy and snapped after a few operations. I am now trying to source a replacement plastic button.1
Underverk extractor fan control knobAnonymous reviewerWe purchased this extractor in 2018, it is four and half years old, we use the very rarely but the flimsy plastic control knob has just broken again for the fourth time.1
Control knob broken after 4 monthsAnonymous reviewerControl knob broke off after 4 months making it very difficult to operate and doesn't look nice without the knob.2
Same Issue as everyone elseAnonymous reviewerControl knob has broken. Don't even know where to start to find a replacement... clearly an ongoing issue... needs fixing or a product recall?2
Same broken knob as everyone elseAnonymous reviewerIn theory this is a great extractor, but after a while I'm having the same problem as everyone else. The knob to control the unit fell off (and actually scratched the induction hob underneath) and now I have to phone an external company to try and get a replacement. Based on everyone else's experiences I'm not expecting a great result. It's a shame, because apart from that huge design / quality issue this is a great extractor.1
Impossible to get spares for itAnonymous reviewerDecent product ..only let down by IKEA themselves really..I’d really like to order a spare set of grease filters but there seems to be no realistic way to do this4
Poor quality partsAnonymous reviewerControl round thing(don't let me use the name of part saying inappropriate language) broke within 7 months of use and don't know where to get the part.2
Control dial brokenAnonymous reviewerThe control dial is broken in 10 months post fully installed. Have no idea how to get a replacement.3
Looks good but quiet loudAnonymous reviewerLooks good as it fits seamlessly into the kitchen design, and lights are useful. Had a previous version in our old kitchen which lasted for 10 years, but design was different. Haven't had an issue with the control on this one yet but it does feel like it needs gentle handling. We have the unit on recirculation mode and it is relatively loud3
Good extractor, control dial broken.Anonymous reviewerThe extractor is good, and fits nicely within the cupboard which suited the layout, but the control dial has broken like many others. The link provided doesn't help as only giving manufacturers phone numbers. Please contact me to arrange a replacement or two given how easily these break.3
good power - poor qualityAnonymous reviewerI bought this item as I needed to run the extraction over some distance - which it does really well. However, about 18 months after instllaing it, the control knob has broken as its a very poor design. I'd only recommend this to others if IKEA can either proivde spares or redesign this part in the extractor.2
Broken KnobAnonymous reviewerHi there. I too have experienced the same problem as above and the knob broke within a month. Could you please either send or direct me to where i can obtain a replacement please? Thank You3
broken control knobAnonymous reviewerI'm having the same issue as the previous reviewer - only a few weeks after starting to use the vent, the knob simply snapped off. As it's not a 'registered spare part', assistants in store were unable to help, and other attempts have led nowhere. It seems an easy thing to replace, but official advice so far has been to replace the whole unit, which means taking apart my kitchen. Until they amend the knob design, would suggest staying away from this.1
