Product details

When this self-watering insert is placed into the soil of any plant pot, the water will penetrate the soil through the terracotta insert.

The terracotta insert makes the water penetrate more slowly than other solutions, so the water will last for longer.

The water container can also be replaced by a 1 litre PET bottle to allow for more water volume when you’re away on vacation.

The water container is made from semi-transparent plastic so you can see the water level and add water when needed.

The water container has a lid on the top for easy refilling, while also keeping insects away.

Phantastic ideaAnonymous reviewerI love this product! It's so clever, the plastic bit can be taken off and cleaned, and also it has a lid to prevent any dirt getting into it. I'll certainly buy some more!5
Good outdoors and indoors - though the lid flies away!Anonymous reviewerI have used these both outdoors and indoors. They’re very well-priced and designed, although note that the lids do not click onto the funnel and are only loosely fitted, so like to fly off when it’s windy. I think you would have to drill holes through and zip tie them together to stop it happening. 4
Fab !Anonymous reviewerI have these all over the house, can’t believe I didn’t buy them sooner.. peace of mind while you’re away5
Can’t live without theseAnonymous reviewerThese are great, wish I’d bought they sooner..5
GoodAnonymous reviewerLovely and novel. Looks good in the plant pot and easy to refill5
Works a treatAnonymous reviewerA great way to keep plants happy in moist soil. It works very well. After assembling and putting into soil, I read online that you should soak the terracotta, however this is not essential as after a few hours the terracotta was wet and the surrounding soil was moist. At a guess I would say y he smaller size is good for between 9cm-15cm plant pots. 5
such a simple yet brilliant deviceAnonymous reviewerThese are so good! Work so well, better than anything else I have tried. Saved so many of my plants, thank you IKEA! You can even put a plastic bottle on it (instead of the blue lidded cup) to hold more water. There is a larger size available but I think the smaller one is less visually obvious. So many other self-watering devices are just plain ugly - this one is attractive and easy to fill5
Excellent productAnonymous reviewerThese are plant savers! They are by far superior to the plastic globe types, those are poorly designed in that they get clogged with soil, and in my opinion let the water drain out far too quickly, rather than the plant actually 'pulling' the water out as it needs. These however are the complete opposite. I have almost 50 indoor plants and these mean that well over half are watered according to the plants needs. Initially I was filling them daily, [I think because I had under watered beforehand], but after a few days, the water was level was going down slowly, so I think the plants are 'pulling' the water as they need. This means no chance of under or over watering. Now I can go on hols and all my Mum has to do is check the reservoirs are not empty! They're a mere fraction of the cost of anything else on the market, and as I have said, the design means your plants are essentially watering themselves. For plant lovers, especially those with large collections, these are a must!5
Can’t be used outside, such a pityAnonymous reviewerReally perfect, let down by the lid which just sits on top loosely, no connection, no turning, no O ring, no clicking into place, nada. Wouldn’t matter for indoor plants, but was advertised as outdoor as well yet the slightest breeze will blow the top off. I guess I’ll have to try with a plastic bottle, but loved the aesthetics and HATE plastic crap that ends up in the bin. 2
Water reservoirAnonymous reviewerVery handy to keep plants watered over a short break. Quite discreet.5
Good for when you're on holidayAnonymous reviewerNot used these larger ones in anger yet, but I have the smaller ones and they are just the ticket for keeping your house plants alive while you're on holiday. Only downside, the water container turns green with algae. Might be because I have feed in water, or because it's a clear container exposed to sunlight.4
Excellent, simple solutionAnonymous reviewerThis is such a practical product that just works. Been looking for something like this for ages. Other self-watering products are just so ugly whereas this is elegant. And I really like that you can use a plastic bottle to replace the blue resevoir if you really need a lot more water. Thank you, Ikea, for another great product.5
piece missingAnonymous reviewerI ordered four of these, and two had missing pieces. Unfortunately, the piece is the rubber seal and the item doesn't work without it. Normally Ikea sends out small replacement parts, but this one doesn't have a number, so have to replace the whole thing. Annoying with two of them.2
Happy plants!Anonymous reviewerSo happy to have found this product - simple solution, clever design. Will become a staple in my home!5
Happy plants!Anonymous reviewerLove this product - so simple, so effective - clever design. Thanks ikea5
Great!Anonymous reviewerReally effective! Used mine in pots & they worked well. Recommend!5
Useful plant watering deviceAnonymous reviewerTerracotta spout produces slow constant supply of water for houseplant4
I use both sizesAnonymous reviewerHave a plethora of house plants, large and small. They allow the plants to draw water when they want and I only have to ‘bulk’ fill every so often. The lid is a good feature as it stops water evaporation. Highly recommend. 5
Great watering deviceAnonymous reviewerEasy to fill watering device great idea to have a lid to prevent insects entering. Having to fill every day due to extensive heat at the moment. 5
Great watering deviceAnonymous reviewerEasy to fill. Great idea having a lid so insects don't enter. Having to fill them daily due to the intense heat at the moment5
