Product details

The drawers are easy to open and spacious enough with room for toys, clothes and other gadgets that teenagers usually like to "store" on the floor.

Soft edges, recessed handles and just a few visible fittings make the bedframe safe and give it a clean design.

You can easily adapt the timeless look based on your taste and personal style by completing with different bed textiles, pillows and accessories.

The shelf section can be fixed at the headboard or footboard of the bed.

If you need extra storage close at hand, you can hang MÖJLIGHET bed pocket over the headboard or footboard of the bed.

You can also use the bed as a room divider since the back is covered and lacquered in the same colour as the rest of the frame.

If you have a thick rug, the drawers at the bottom are still easy to open since the bottom of the frame is slightly higher.

Max load indicates static weight, in other words the load which the bed withstands if you lie or sit on it.

May be completed with other products from the SLÄKT series as well as textiles and accessories from the MÖJLIGHET series.

Mattress and bedlinen are sold separately.

Love it!Verified BuyerI wanted a bed for my daughter that wasn't too tall but not too small. This bed definitely fits the bill. Lots of storage with the drawers and fits a small bedroom perfectly. It's sturdy and will last a long while, love the curved corners on the drawers too.5
Nice bed, a little highVerified BuyerGreat value for money and storage, only issue is the mattress I bought makes the bed very high for my daughter who has fallen out! I would only buy the foam mattress for this bed, IKEA should promote this mattress. The spring mattress is not suitable4
Great bed with lots of storageVerified BuyerThis bed is very good quality and my son loves it. Drawers are good size. These is some space behind them as well that can be accessed by taking off mattress. Bed height probably better for older children. It took a while to assemble it but had no problems with it.5
New bedVerified BuyerA great bed for a small room with really useful drawers and shelf.5
Great bed for a pre teen!Verified BuyerJust what we were looking for. Great storage5
Quality Storage SolutionVerified BuyerFairly easy to put together, took about 4 hours and you need to build in situ as the bed is very heavy when complete. I used a power screwdriver which did speed up the process and you need to make sure that you are following the correct instructions as there are multiple ways to put the shelves and draws. My son is very pleased.4
Advertised as 200cm in lengthVerified BuyerThis isn’t correct and mentioned twice in the description and then only when you click through you get the actual length of 206cm. The extra 6 cm makes a big difference when trying to fit the bed in a 203cm alcove. We had to cut up the bed and make shift it.1
Lovely bedVerified BuyerLooks great, drawers are a great size. It is a bit longer than a normal single (about 10 cm) so be careful for mattresses. Very sturdy and looks like it will last. However the instructions were terrible for building it. No numbers or letters on pieces, 4 different ways to build but a bit of a guessing game on how to get a particular one.4
Good qualityVerified BuyerGreat sturdy bed, slightly larger than the advertised sizes4
Great bedVerified BuyerWe bought this bed for our son and his small room - it’s provided the extra storage we needed and wasn’t too tricky a build.5
Nice bed, but check the sizeSussexfarm27The actual measurements of this bed are 96 centimetres by 206 centimetres.3
Excellent sturdy bedThunderskiesWe're really pleased with this bed. Very easy to assemble and is sturdy, the drawers are great and roomy. It's alot higher than I thought it would be but that's been a big hit. We bought one from Argos which was so flimsy, the drawers all broke, it squeaked and was more expensive. That lasted a year!5
Great bedMrsGrGreat bed for my daughter, the drawers provide lots of storage for her clothes. Great value for money5
Loads of storage, OJaneBHBought two of these, last year, for our kids as their bedrooms are small and narrow. I put one of them together on my own, but it is much easier to do with the two of you. It went together beautifully but you do have to concentrate on what you are are doing. The kids both love them and they have more than enough drawer space now.5
Great for storage but creakyZoedcThis bed looks great and has plenty of storage. However it is very creaky to move about on.3
Excellent for storageGdn62Great product, lots of storage and very comfortable for my daughter. Essy to build and great quality5
Spacious storageDyma30The bed is very nice and it fits in a small room perfectly for us. Good space for storage, spacious drawers. The biggest minus is wooden tiles or rails( don’t know how you call them) the one which you need to put mattress on top, so they are very thin and slim and when you get in the bed its bouncing , which is disappointing...I bough much cheaper bed from you before when my daughter was younger and these rails where so hard and sturdy! But the rest is absolutely good!4
Amazing bedRSL2Bought this bed for my 4 year old son as his room not massive. Storage great with really decent size draws so no need for side draws in his room just wardrobe needed. Good instructions and definitely need 2 people to build this bed. Mattress -make sure get correct size 200x90cm as its not just a standard size single mattress. Son loves it and last him well into his teens. Highly recommend5
Slakt bedZainyThis bed is just genius! I bought this for my son who has a small room but the drawers have saved me so much space. No need for a wardrobe or chest of drawers. The drawers are quite large. Thank you IKEA for creating this bed as it has just been a godsend and we love it!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Anna Carme works with product development at Children's IKEA and came up with the idea of a bed with storage after having visited many homes of families with children around the world. "Many families have limited space and the lack of storage creates a lot of frustration. It can also be difficult for children of school age to find their own place where they can have their things close at hand."

Without hard edges and handles

Anna and her team presented a first version of the bed with shelves and drawers – without handles. "We know that children of this age like to throw themselves onto the bed and can get hurt from protruding handles", Anna explains. And of course, the children threw themselves onto the bed when the team invited them to a Kid's Lab, a structured method we’ve developed to hear children's opinions and thoughts. When the children settled in and sat on the bed’s edge, their ideas started to flow. "A boy pointed out that he could feel the edge of the bed as he sat with his legs dangling", says Anna. “He also wanted to be able to "slide" off the bed easily."

A bed from a child’s perspective

"The other children agreed and of course they were right in wanting a bed to be comfortable to sit on too", says Anna. The children's opinions led to the edge being lowered. ”It was important for us to develop a bed from a child’s perspective. This is the way we do things at Children´s IKEA. By involving children in our product development, we can learn more about their needs and dreams – and how they get in and out of bed."

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are – and this determines what we use them for. So regardless if it’s a bed, a wardrobe or your new bathroom cabinet, the leftover wooden fibre becomes a resource instead of going to waste.

Form design process

For all kids who like to dangle legs

When we developed SLÄKT bed with storage, we had help from the world's leading experts at being children – children themselves. A group between the ages of 8 and 14 contributed with important points. Like being able to sit on the bed and then slide off of it without feeling the bed’s edge. Of course they were right, so we lowered the edge. By involving children directly in our product development, we can learn more about their needs – and how they get out of bed.
