You can use the drawer with a glass top for making notes with a marker pen, tracing or simply display nice things in it.
The curved shield creates a feeling of private space and makes the desk also look nice from behind.
The shield has a narrow opening where you can lead cables out to the back.

Nice table. One of the longest and most difficult and complex builds I've ever doneAnonymous reviewerAt around hour 5 after 3 breaks and multiple breakdowns, battery running out of screwdrivers and 2 nights, I managed to finally get to the point of putting the screws in the table.
Its a nice table. In no earthly way is this friendly to build. You will need at least 3 fully grown adult men working round the clock to have this built in under 2 hours. By yourself? Put aside 2 full days, with plenty of rest.
This is a job. Do not attempt it unless you are good fitness.

Nice piece of furniture…Anonymous reviewerI’d seen this desk online and whilst it fitted the alcove I wanted it for I kept rejecting it owing to price and not being able to see it on store.
However I came back to it as nothing else I’d seen either in ikeas or elsewhere compared well.
What I really liked was the design. Not too modern but not along to be traditional. The rear curves are really a nice touch.
I took my time making it up. Only one error which did not take too long to resolve and it’s really solid and well made. In total I’d say it took me 4hrs to make up but I took it slowly and methodically. The veneer of oak has depth to it. The drawers all work how they should.
I suppose what I’d say in summary is you get what you pay for. I’d like to see some other matching pieces.
Finally I do like the reassurance of IKEA products. The family card guarantee provides me with piece of mind - that’s assuming you live near to a store.
Simply love it.Anonymous reviewerIt doesn't like the MICKE series (its drawers are very likely to fall apart as the bottom board is as thin as paper). the design is very good, including the size, the texture and the use of materials.
