25 year guarantee. Read about the terms in the guarantee brochure.

The worktop is made of particle board covered with a top layer of veneer. This method allows us to use less wood in production.

Worktop with a thick walnut veneer, a hardwearing natural material that can be sanded and surface treated when required.

Walnut is a straight-grained hardwood with good stability and strength. It gets lighter as it ages – from the dark brown to a rich honey colour that appears through the grain.

Every worktop is unique, with varying grain pattern and natural colour shifts that are part of the charm of wood.

For quick installation and easy maintenance the worktop is pre-treated with hard wax oil.

The worktop has a fine line design that gives it a timeless look inspired by sleek modern flooring.

You can cut the worktop to the length you want and cover the edges with the included edging strip.

Care

Do not place a toaster, coffee maker, kettle or other kitchen appliances that emit heat directly over a seam between two worktops because the heat can damage the seam.

Areas where the worktop may dry out, such as edges and areas around the sink and hob, require frequent treatment.

The worktop surface is pre-treated at the factory with hard wax oil. Due to the nature of the material, treat the edges and cut-outs with wood treatment oil, prior to installation.

To ensure that your worktop ages gracefully, treat it regularly with wood treatment oil; it gives the surface a beautiful sheen, protects the wood and prolongs the life of the worktop.

Even though thick veneer is a durable material you should never place hot pots or pans directly on the worktop without a trivet or pot stand.

Never use a steel scourer, scourer pad, souring agent or similar products as they can scratch the surface.

Worktops in laminate or thick veneer that are installed above a dishwasher or oven shall be protected on the underside with FENSJÖ diffusion barrier.

Safety and compliance

Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 25 cm. The maximum distance between these legs should not be more than 80 cm.

Colour Mismatch with Longer PinnarpAnonymous reviewerThe two different lengths of the walnut Pinnarp (186/246cm) are actually two different worktops. The shorter is made only of darker wood while the longer has a blend of light and dark. We queried this with customer services and they confirmed that this is correct as they have different article numbers. We planned to use both in the same kitchen and have gone ahead as we couldn’t justify buying a much longer piece than we needed for sustainability reasons. The finish isn’t good though - the darker section really stands out. Seems odd that ikea would sell two lengths of what seem to be advertised as the same worktop but actually can’t be mixed and matched.1
Good sturdy qualityAnonymous reviewerI used this to build a standing desk with a frame from another standing desk company, The desk top is solid wood and massive enough to hold three work stations. Really good quality.5
Great worktopAnonymous reviewerReally solid heavy worktop that looks great as a gaming desk.5
not the bestAnonymous reviewerFeels a bit insubstantial, when you cast your hand across it, which it clearly isn't, as it is has a nice and thick solid hunk of chipboard underneath. It is being fitted, currently, so I have not used it but it looks like it will not take stains as well as plastic-laminate worktop. I like beetroot and blackberries and am not altogether confident. It feel slightly matt and porous. Finally, I can't decide if it looks 'cheap & cheerful' or 'contemporary'. I do not love it from the off but maybe I will come round. I would have been happier with a nice uncomplicated, plastic-laminate worktop. For next time.2
Colour not as expectedAnonymous reviewerOn the Ikea website and in store the worktop looks ashy toned, nicely pale and bleached. In reality it looks yellowish, like cheap pine. Disappointing.2
Anonymous reviewerIt's hard to say. You need to be careful especially with water as the seed and become stains.3

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Built and tested to last

We believe that our kitchen worktops should meet your highest demands when it comes to design and performance, without compromise. That’s why we test our worktops, and put them up against the everyday challenges they’ll face in your kitchen: liquids, oil, food, steam, heat, bumps and scratches. When they’ve passed our testing, we know they’ll last, and we guarantee it for 25 years.
