Part of the Nytillverkad collection where several IKEA classics have been given a new look.

This armchair frame was part of the GOGO series which was launched in our 1972 catalogue and was described as "light and portable". The designers were the duo Charlotte Rude and Hjördis Olsson-Une.

In 1972, we used standard steel for the frame’s tubes, but the tubes are made of high-strength steel in this updated version, which cuts material consumption in half.

    Check regularly that all assembly fastenings are properly tightened and retighten when necessary.

DisappointingAnonymous reviewerThis chair looks very trendy but whilst the frame is strong the actual seating area is not. It's comprised of a thin board of wood to sit on. The first one snapped and I got a full seat replacement (minus the cushions). The cushions aren't supportive or particularly cosy and you can feel the wood at times. It also creeks a lot. It took a little while to assemble and the value for money isn't great due to the cost of the cushions. I would seriously only consider buying this for a tween or teen. I bought another disappointing chair from IKEA in the same order and I've not been impressed by the drop in quality.2

After finishing Konstfack University, designers Charlotte Rude and Hjördis Olsson-Une ended up in Älmhult at Elme glass factory in 1968, only a few hundred metres from our head office. So the duo was soon employed and produced one product after the other in a short time. The GOGO series was described in the 1972 catalogue as "fun-shaped tubes with extra-soft cushions". A fitting description, also for ÖNNESTAD armchair frame and cushion set in the Nytillverkad collection.
