They don't lastAnonymous reviewerÀ few months ago we bought a set of these pans and their surface quickly degraded and they lost their non stickiness. We thought we did something wrong and bought a replacement set, as well as a non scratch sponge for cleaning them, and we made sure to never use high heat with them, but they are once again degraded in barely a month. We used a soft sponge, only rubber/wood spatulas, and low heat this whole time, and followed the instructions that came with the pans, so I don't understand why they would be destroyed. Two stars because they were nice while they lasted.2
Non non-stick pan, it sticks!Anonymous reviewerAwful, non-stick coating is non-existent :( Previous cheaper kavalkad pans lasted several months, this one didn't even last 3 uses. And please Ikea don't tell me not to overheat or use it dry etc. I know how to cook, been doing it for over 50 years. This is just a very poor quality pan. Bring back the kavalkad budget range pans, the new Tagghaj are also very cheap and awful.1

What is sol-gel ceramic non-stick coating?

Sol-gel non-stick is often called ceramic coating and is an increasingly common replacement for other non-stick coatings in frying pans. It comprises mostly of silica and is created by applying a gel-like solution to the product and drying it in an oven. The result is a hard, glossy surface with non-stick properties. Sol-gel can be produced in different colours, it withstands high heat, is easy to use and clean – and allows cooking with little or no fat.
