The fabric gives very good protection against the sun’s UV rays as it has a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating of 25+, which means it blocks 96% of the ultraviolet radiation.
You are protected from the sunshine all day long, since the parasol can be tilted.
The hook-and-loop strap keeps the fabric in place when folded.
You can place this parasol flat against the wall or balcony rail, which means it takes very little space and is perfect for small areas, e.g. your balcony.

Limited height and tilt adjustmentAnonymous reviewerEven the minimum height is too high and the sun shines in underneath it. I am not very tall and find it difficult to adjust the tilt. It seems to have only one setting.

Does not work, it is too highAnonymous reviewerThis parasol looks good and classy, that's all. It is good until you use it, then it would disappoint you. I bought this for my balcony. I fixed to a heavy base, which was a universal one from my last parasol, that worked perfectly. However with this IKEA parasol, everytime I try to get some shade and there was a light breeze, it would get tilted and won’t stay upright. The problem is that is too tall and even in its lower height, the wind would push the parasol up easily.
It's only usable with good weather and not wind at all (a very unusual forecast for UK)
Quality Half Sun Umbrella Anonymous reviewerBought this for rain protection rather than a sun shade. When the flat side is placed against my open ended bbq hut the umbrella keeps the inevitable rain off my back. Didn’t buy the base. Drilled a hole in the patio flagstone and then clip the top of the umbrella to my bbq hut. The umbrella material is easy to remove and wash especially if it gets exposed to too much smoke!! Great value for money.
Balcony parasol half parasol designAnonymous reviewerWanted something not too big & that could sit right on the edge of our deck. Perfect brolly & it’s our 2nd one. Only needed to buy it as the original shade has some nibbled holes from our resident squirrels. Just needed the shade but not sold separately
