Great quality and valueAnonymous reviewerFor a few pounds more than alternatives online, this has been a very welcome replacement to a similar swivel mixer tap that was worn out and leaking. It has a long guarantee and a friend with a similar ikea one says has worked perfectly for years. Only thing to note is the chrome is a slight grey colour rather than bright silver, but the metal is sturdy.

Poorly Assembled. Poor qualityAnonymous reviewerThe flexible hoses are already attached to this tap but I found the cold hose was slack. It was not possible to get a spanner in to tighten it so I had to dismantle the tap in order to tighten it. This tap was a replacement for the exact same original IKEA tap which is about 10 years old because it had started leaking from part up it's spout due to internal corrosion. When I removed the original tap someone had fixed a previous leak by surrounding the hoses with silicone. Upon removing the original faulty tap and the silicone I found that it also had a loose cold hose connector.
It looks like someone has been assembling this tap incorrectly for years. Both the quality of assembly and the fact that the original tap has failed have put me off IKEA kitchen products.

Material
What is brass?
Brass is a mixture of copper and zinc and the amounts vary depending on the desired properties. Copper is usually the main material and the more zinc you add results in the brass being harder and stronger, but also results in it being more difficult to shape and less resistant to rust. Brass can be recycled as brass but never into its original metals. At IKEA we use brass for things like knobs, handles, frames and taps.
