You need a flat-topped steel screw in place so Anonymous reviewerGreat invention. Used these in few places round house. Be warned the fixing screw you use needs to be flush with the internal surface and capable of sticking to magnet.

Don't stay up?Anonymous reviewerNice design, looks good but unfortunately the drop down doesn't stay up when fitted! Fine if you want them i use all the time, but not if you want the minimalist look when not in use.
Did try them held up to several walls that I know are vertical. The design should have them canted back slightly to work effectively.
I'll have to take them back...

Great concept but colour options needed!Anonymous reviewerWe got these for our small entry way so it looks smart, as we already have an Umbra Design folding artwork multihook and love the folding away options as they look much neater and free up head room when you don't need them out. The only negative on the IKEA hooks is the colour choice - only grey-beige/metal is a strange choice, would have loved to see a black or white option to match walls and decor so will paint with a suitable paint to change colour.

Magnets do workAnonymous reviewerPeople don't seem to realise that the magnet is placed on the hook level with the screw hole. Doesn't work until the unit is screwed into the wall (etc) at which point it is held closed by coupling to the metallic screw used to fix it up. Once the screw is in, magnet works to perfection.
