      A lesser product todayAnonymous reviewerI bought one of these 25 years ago. It has been dismantled & reassembled twice. It was solid, heavy, robust. No lateral flex. It was used against a wall & as a room separator. Unfortunately the white had yellowed a bit so in line with decorating decided to get a new one. 25 years on it is clearly not the same product. Firstly I noticed how light the boxes were. I would say half to a third of the weight of the original product. I assembled it. Accidently knocked one of the shelf sections and it just dented. Made of mush. All corners were tightened but still had lateral movement. I saw that they are now designed to be fixed to a wall. Not what we want. I used the bracing bars from the original one and fitted them across each corner which helped a lot with the lateral movement. On the old one the main screw holes were lined. The new ones are not so you would not be able to disassemble this and reassemble with any integrity. I would rather pay double and have a more robust product.2

The only issue is that they are slightly too deep for 12” LPs so end up having to put a strip of wood along the back of each cube . Would also be really helpful if backs for the units were available for purchase5

      Pleasing addition for bookworm but wobblesAnonymous reviewerPerhaps it is how we assembled it - this otherwise welcome addition to host books wobbles when pushed. This worries me when we change its position in the room. I don’t anticipate the unit to fall apart, but perhaps over the years one curious push will be the last. We will still buy a second because the double space is convenient and we haven’t found a cheaper storage solution. It would have been good to know how that wobble could have been prevented.4
