Not induction hob safe as statedAnonymous reviewerWe bought one of these as it stated induction hob safe, to use on a brand new Ikea induction hob and the glass surface is now badly damaged. Ikea refused responsibility for the pan & claimed it is not the pan, even though non of the other pans have done this and it's also their induction hob we used it with! If you like your hob, I suggest from experience not to risk it.1

What is sol-gel ceramic non-stick coating?

Sol-gel non-stick is often called ceramic coating and is an increasingly common replacement for other non-stick coatings in frying pans. It comprises mostly of silica and is created by applying a gel-like solution to the product and drying it in an oven. The result is a hard, glossy surface with non-stick properties. Sol-gel can be produced in different colours, it withstands high heat, is easy to use and clean – and allows cooking with little or no fat.
