With HAMMARÖN pergola, you can easily create shade that protects you from the sunlight. Or you can just let the pergola frame your outdoor area in a nice way by folding away the canopy.
The fabric gives very good protection against the sun’s UV rays as it has a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating of 25+, which means it blocks 96% of the ultraviolet radiation.
The durable canopy fabric is fade-resistant to keep the colour fresh for longer.
The canopy opens and closes quickly and easily with the help of a practical pull device.
Possible to separate for recycling or energy recovery if available in your community.
Always remove the fabric from the frame in windy conditions.
The pergola does not provide protection against reflected or scattered solar ultraviolet radiation.
Two people are required to do the assembly.
Plastic pegs are included to secure the pergola on a lawn, fixing devices for other materials are not included.

Internal tubes holding water, dripping rusty waterAnonymous reviewerPurchased this IKEA sun shade pergola just over 13 months ago and came back from a holiday in Sept 2026 to find rusty water stains on the decking and the garden furniture. It was fine just before we went, but we hadn't had much rain over summer. The water had entered the top channels and as the interior isn't treated it had pooled and gone rusty and then dripped out. The joints should be sealed better and internal steel treated. Unfortunately Ikea just stated it was out of its 12m warranty and only after complaining to 3 different supervisors I was offered a £30 pound voucher. I explained it should have lasted more than 13 months. They actually said it wasn't a defect but weather related, I explained this was meant to be kept outside. I got it Aug 2025 and took it down completely for the winter. So it has been up 2m in 2025 and about 5m this year. Great looking product just a shame not built to last.

Some of the Allen nuts are awkward to access, and putting it up to fix the two sides together would be next to impossible with only 2.

Brilliant purchaseAnonymous reviewerMy husband managed to put parts together but needed to call on our SiL for assembling including the canopy. We love it as we have a south facing garden and this brings a welcome relief from the heat of the sunshine. We did ask the IKEA staff member if there where covers for the actual leg posts to cover the screws and she said they would be included in the boxes sadly this is not the case and you cannot buy separately.

Looks great but a pain to attach canopyAnonymous reviewerI put it together on the whole by myself, however you DEFINITELY need 3 people to clip it all together. You need one on each side of the frame and one on the centre to clip it all in. The canopy clips are a small and a bit of a nightmare. Not a quick job to take down if it rains

My only criticism would be it would be, it states two people necessary to put it up, but I was extremely glad there was three of us available, due to the size of the structure, It made much easier! I absolutely love it and really wish I could purchase a waterproof cover to use in winter!
Pergola Anonymous reviewerWe needed 3 of us to put this together because of its size and the cover was quite difficult to attach to the rings but by following the instructions exactly it was simple to construct. It took a couple of hours so allow plenty of time and space to do so. Once up it is sturdy and looks good and provides shelter from the sun. A great purchase.
Good Sturdy PergolaAnonymous reviewerGood product & we are happy with it once assembled. The assembly is relatively straight forward although clipping the cover onto the hooks was a small challenge but there is a knack which you find after a couple of hooks are attached. I didn't have any real problems with the rest of the build [instructions are quite good] but it takes 2 people, If not 3 for final screw together for last 10 minutes of erection, & is roughly an hours job. It is very sturdy & the cover, whilst not water proof, is pretty good. Overall a good product, does the job, looks good & I think it will last for some time as the build seems strong.

Took a little while to construct and would definitely recommend at least an additional two people to help with the later stages of erection.

Great for south facing gardenAnonymous reviewerMy garden was basically just a clay pit with a lot of sun and this has transformed it completely. Spending so much more time together in the garden. Needed 3 people to put it together, would recommend laying something soft down to build on. You need 2 x the space of the pergola as construction is in massive parts that then need pushing together. No faults and holding up in the wind with some 12 inch rebar pegs I found online!
Not worth the price Anonymous reviewerThis is one of the worst gazebos to put together, the piles didn’t thread so we’re wobbly, my husband had to put a self tapping screw through all of them. The cover was so ridiculously hard to clip on. Definitely not worth the money my husband could have made a better one out of wood wish we had !

Looks GreatAnonymous reviewerLooks great does the job well. Just unfortunately there's a lack of protection inside the main tubes and some of the pressed nuts were already rusty. Also the item was so mucky and the treads was full of dirt that I had to clean out before I could assemble it. It's not a waterproof cover shame really. But it works well and looks the part.

Only thing is . Is not water proof I was thinking to use it when sunny and sometimes even light rainy days I can sit outside. But no, water goes straight through , extra furniture protector needed for garden furniture.
