Looks good in showroom but it's Poor QualityAnonymous reviewerAlthough it looks okay, this worktop is not made to be used in the kitchen.
The surface is soft and can be dented easily if you somehow by mistake you drop a cup of tea from your hand.
As soon it was put up, I could notice in a matter of days that the front edge started to expand slighty and after an year it shows sign of wear. Not made to last 10 years! Even if I would get a full refund, it's costly to fit another L shape kitchen worktop!!!
Dont buy if you plan to have more than two cut edge exposedAnonymous reviewerAlthough the worktop is a good solid worktop, it only comes with 2 additional edging strips which would only cover the ends of the worktop if you cut it. The way my worktop will be cut, I need additional edging, but turns out this is not available as a spare or to buy... I was told by the customer service rep, to buy an additional worktop to get the spare strips (seriously) The fact that this is not mentioned in the item description nor the size of the additional strips that comes with the top is a major disappointment to say the least.
Disappointing Anonymous reviewerThis is our third ikea kitchen, we have always been very happy with the quality. Unfortunately this type of worktop is not of the same previous quality. Although the surface looks good, each time you touch it it leaves finger marks so you are constantly wiping over it. It is also quite dull in appearance. Tbh I don't know how long I can put up with it before it has to be replaced, it has only just been fitted this week.

New surface texture is atrocious.Anonymous reviewerThese used to be fantastic, super easy to clean. We made some alterations to our existing kitchen and needed another worktop so got another one of these (the pattern has also changed but it close enough). At some point over the last few years they've made these much cheaper, the surface now feels like paper and is extremely difficult to clean because it's not smooth. Anything you try to wipe it with just gets shredded and leaves fibres all over it. Terrible. 0/10.
Very disappointing, not fit for purposeAnonymous reviewerLooks lovely but if you try to pull anything across the worktop such as a plate or any other object, the worktop instantly marks. The marks often don’t come off. It’s a terrible finish for a worktop and I am really disappointed in it.

Defective Worktop & Very Poor AftercareAnonymous reviewerI purchased the EKBACKEN worktop expecting a durable, everyday kitchen surface, but my experience has been extremely disappointing.
The worktop developed issues that I firmly believe are defects, not simply the “normal” matt finish or speckled appearance IKEA claims. This is in a household of just two adults, no children, and the kitchen is used normally.
What’s particularly frustrating is that the surface requires constant wiping, as water marks appear very easily and do not match expectations for a practical kitchen worktop.
My warranty claim was rejected despite providing evidence, with no real support or resolution offered. As a result, I will now be replacing the worktop at my own expense and will not be choosing IKEA again. This experience has impacted my confidence in both the product and the level of support provided. Very disappointing overall.

AvoidAnonymous reviewerWanted some marble effect worktop for our en-suite and this looked lovely in the picture.
Paid professionals to remove old worktop around sink and replace using this today. When I returned I was so disappointed I could cry. The labour alone will have cost me a few hundred and honestly it’s terrible quality. It looks like really cheap poorly finished mdf shelving. The edging is dire to say the least and looks like it will lift further at the first bit of moisture. Live and learn. I so wish I splashed out on some nice sparkly quality worktop now. Don’t make the same mistake. It’s dull and very cheap looking and the edging is really awful.

As electric sockets need isolating to fit & Sparky to reinstall. Quality seems OK but now need a break in the weather for cutting outside.
Looks good but stains and bucklesAnonymous reviewerLooks great but the ends warp and buckle with even a small amount of water and it stains easily even with tea even though we wipe spills straight away. Very disappointing as we can't replace easily. We now have to have something to hide the ends as it looks really bad. I wish I had paid more for a better quality product
