Fits BILLY bookcase 40 cm wide and 28 cm deep.
The shelf does not fit bookcases purchased in the spring of 2014 or earlier.
Tempered glass is 4-5 times stronger and more resistant to breaking than regular glass. In case it would break, it shatters into many granular pieces to reduce the risk of injury.
Shelf supports are included.

The shelf brackets are a bit fiddly and the stickers are daftAnonymous reviewerI bought 9 of these shelves and whilst they look good, they are a bit of a fuss to install. Firstly, why use paper stickers on the glass. It's impossible to remove them without tearing and they leave a sticky residue. The shelves are sturdy when they're in but I would argue that the brackets are a bit over-engineered and fiddly. Pegs to hold up the shelves and vinyl stickers would have made it 10 times easier.

Looks greatAnonymous reviewerI took a page out gof the Ikea book and copied the display. We were looking too find a utility cupboard to fill a long but shallow space in our dining room to increate our storage and display our glass ware. Utilising the lighting which was in the Ikea display we hooked up the home automation and it looks great and fulfils a lighting and display requirement at the same time. Easy construction as always although you do need the room to lay down the units when fitting the backs.

Bit priceyAnonymous reviewerNeeded an extra shelf for our units and as the ones we purchased were the special edition yellow (and yellow spares weren’t available strangely), we had no choice but to get glass. Found them quite an expensive addition to be honest, partly because we have a wall of these and each needed an extra shelf, and partly because we had got the shelving units on offer at half price. These are ok and do the job. Just a shame that they are needed as I think there should definitely be an extra shelf in with each unit.

Effective and attractive increase in shelf spaceAnonymous reviewerThe glass extra shelf improves the Billy bookcase by giving extra shelf space in a clean and unfussy manner. The thin but sturdy glass shelf is easily fitted and creates and uncluttered look. I’ve used it to double the amount of paperback books I can store in what previously was wasted space. A bonus of the glass shelf is it lets light through to the space underneath which again contributes to a lighter look and feel over additional solid shelves.

Excellent addition to bookcaseAnonymous reviewerI bought two of these in order to display some glassware I had inherited and was able to adjust the solid wooden shelves to fit in books and have ample space to then fit the glasses in. The shelves are very easy to fit into the cases and secure and work very well.

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
