Awful to InstallAnonymous reviewerI had to purchase 4 different types of screw to install this shelf. You need countersunk and pan head of 2 different lengths. At least offer these as an option to purchase. There were no predrilled holes/marks to help attach the brackets at equal distances. I have purchased and assembled plenty of ikea products over the years, this is the worst.
Terrible to installAnonymous reviewerThese shelves are terrible to install. The screws don't come with the package, which is fine, but why not predrill some holes for the screws in the plank itself??? The screws don't come with the packaging "because all walls are different". Okay but that doesn't matter for the screws that go into the shelf. I've assembled many IKEA products in the past and I've never had the item not have the holes predrilled. Having those holes as a guide would've also made placing the brackets on the walls a lot easier. This whole process was an absolute headache. I've got another one of these shelves to mount but I'm not even going to use it. Wasted money
DisappointedAnonymous reviewerI purchased 3 of these shelves to put on my bedroom walls. All 3 shelves arrived with some kind of corner damage where the wood is peeling off. It’s is quite sad because the shelves look great on the wall par that one issue.
Dreadful bracketsAnonymous reviewerThe shelf is good. It's exactly what you'd expect - white painted mdf. It's pretty heavy - but with the right brackets and a strong wall fixing it shouldn't be a problem. However - these are certainly not the right brackets for this shelf. They are dreadful. Poorly constructed and not suitable to hold even just the weight of the shelf - never mind actually putting additional items it. The brackets also use a keyhole-type slot instead of just a screw to attach them to the wall. The pictures show a screw hole at the bottom of the bracket - but there is no similar hole at the top. The keyhole slot itself is recessed into the back of the bracket and secured with tiny little screws. This makes for a real weakpoint in the construction of the bracket as they can't bear any weight and will detach from the bracket. This method of construction coupled with a heavy shelf is actually very dangerous. I would advise anyone to stay well clear of these brackets.
