Great chairAnonymous reviewerExpensive but very. Comfortable5
Too uncomfortableAnonymous reviewerSeemed great in the store. But when I got it home and really tried to get comfortable I kept noticing small issues I didn't pick up beforehand.
My back gets really uncomfortable with the lumbar support being far too obnoxious, and I've had to start using cushions under my bum and head because unless I am sat 100% perfect it feel like torture.
Really disappointed.2
Very uncomfortableAnonymous reviewerVery uncomfortable. For the price of this chair I am disappointed with the comfort. I use this chair for gaming and spend a lot of time at my desk. As mentioned in another review, the lumbar support is far too harsh. The chair gives me a sore back after only a short time sitting. The chair is also made from quite rough material which adds to the discomfort. I have given this chair a chance and used it for 4 months, hoping it would break in and become more comfortable, but I have reached the point of looking for something else because I just cannot sit in this chair any longer. It's annoying because it was so expensive. Avoid!1
Mixed quality and short lived comfortAnonymous reviewerI initially loved this chair, despite the backrest feeling quite cheap. It was comfortable at first, but after just 2–3 weeks of use it has become painful to sit in. The lumbar support is far too firm and feels uncomfortable rather than supportive. Strangely, lumbar support usually "breaks in" and gets softer, but this has become firmer. The chair no longer feels as stable as it did initially, something I would expect after years of use, not weeks.
The construction quality is inconsistent. The base is very solid and heavy, but the backrest weighs next to nothing and is very flimsy and poorly built in comparison.
Another issue is the head rest. At 5'7" I'm quite short, but the headrest doesn’t even reach my head, it sits around my upper back which is uncomfortable and forces me to sit forward a lot of the time, which is unhealthy, but I'd otherwise have the head rest digging into my upper back.1
Quality control issues and no warranty infoAnonymous reviewerI tested this chair out in store and liked the fit.I am over 6 foot and found it comfortable and the back rest is adjustable which helps so I purchased it.The problem I have is with the finish, the metal frame has rust and score marks on paint coating. The plastic underside has score marks and was covered in dust which I found strange. There is absolutely nothing in the paperwork or online about a warranty. All things you don't want to see on a new chair.3
IKEA's best chair by farAnonymous reviewerThis chair is absolutely fantastic.
The build quality is excellent. It’s incredibly sturdy and solid, and nothing feels flimsy. The tilt mechanism is stable and smooth.
The mesh seat is very supportive without being stiff. It’s breathable, and the front of the seat angles down so there’s very little pressure on the thighs. That said, sitting cross-legged or with one leg tucked under can be uncomfortable, as the edges aren’t as soft as a cushioned seat.
The backrest is also mesh and follows the curve of the back very well. I find the lumbar support excellent.
The leather headrest is very comfortable with good padding, though I’m not sure how suitable it would be for those 6'0" and over.
My only gripes are that the armrests, while comfortable, are a little narrow and may feel slightly far apart for some people, and the locking casters can be a bit annoying.
Overall, I highly recommend it! It feels like a much more expensive chair than it is.5
IKEA's best gaming/office chair, but not for tall people.Anonymous reviewerI've bought/tried a LOT of IKEA's office and gaming chairs, pretty much all of them. While this isn't perfect, it's probably their best gaming/office chair. Very comfortable, adjustable armrest, seat height, headrest and lumbar support. Unfortunately the height of the backrest isn't adjustable, so if you're tall this isn't really suitable. I'm 6'0" and even with the headrest on the highest level it wasn't quite right. I would say if you're under 5'10" then this is a superb chair and as good as office chairs more than double the price. If you're over 5'10" then I wouldn't recommend this. Also, the back is mesh - not sure how it'll hold up over a longer duration.
IKEA - if you can make a new version with a higher (or adjustable in height) backrest this would be an A+ chair for everybody.4
