Total pain to build!! Anonymous reviewerThis may look like a simple enough bed to build but it isn't. So many different parts. Some don't even fit right. Been at it hours and still finding it really difficult. Absolute joke. And don't even attempt to do it yourself unless you carve out several hours to do it.

Malm Standard Double BedAnonymous reviewerThe bed’s quality is exactly what I have come to expect from Ikea. So easy to assemble and solid and is obviously going to prove durable. Despite the floor being carpeted, the under bed storage drawers run smoothly. Lönset bed slats have improved the comfort of the existing Hövåg mattress. Love the bed.
Ikea have let themselves down though. The ‘midbeam’; which is a vital piece, as it is the central support for whichever slats you choose; is sold as a completely separate item from the bed. I was served by an Ikea colleague, stating I wanted to purchase the bed with storage drawers. There was no mention of the necessary ‘midbeam. On assembling the bed, only then discovering that the last vital piece was missing, I checked the boxes. I had all the boxes, 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. I checked online, it is necessary to hunt, not every Malm bed advertised even has the information. The final VITAL piece to complete the Malm bed is sold as a completely separate product.
An extra journey to Ikea and a click and collect charge, plus a night on the sofa as the mattress could not be placed on the assembled bed. Not impressed Ikea!
