It's been around for years and although it's had slightly changes over the years (measurements and amount of wood used) it's one of the best products IKEA provides, and the IVAR range is definitely not a suitable replacement for this budget shelving system.
Probably the first shelving system (rather than random ill-fitting units) I ever purchased, and has been used in bedrooms, sheds, garages and even as IT office storage. I currently still have 4 in the garage and 12 around the house.
It lends itself to being reshaped by virtue of being pine, and it has mostly adequate pre-drilled holes for most purposes, although it would always have been better with similar hole spacing to the Billy range.
Please IKEA reconsider this decision and let the best budget shelving unit on the market continue for many more years.

Very useful shelvingAnonymous reviewerRecently purchased these shelves for garage storage upgrade. Shelf components were reasonably priced and decently finished.
Hejne was very easily put together and once fixed back to garage walls with quality fixings have proved easily strong enough for the usual heavy garage equipment, sports gear and tools. Being timber I found it very easy to adapt shelves both in length and height to suit available space. Multiple units are easily constructed.
I'd be happy to recommend this product for garage, and in home applications as all parts are suitable for decoration to personal taste.
My storage options with IVAR are a doddle - quick and simple.Anonymous reviewerI have a range of 10 HEJNE uprights which, with 48 shelves that can be rearranged, in all rooms, Kitchen, Bedroom, Garage. No screws, just solid pins, that support the shelves. No holes to drill or repair on the walls. With a simple storage matrix, my tools, and my wife's clothes and kid's toys remain tidy. - The upgraded uprights and cross pieces now require firm assembly, but the guidance note covers most eventualities, and is clear. A range of doors would be a useful, addition to shield from dust, the shelves are expensive.

Affordable and SimpleAnonymous reviewerA simple affordable storage solution with flexibility. As it's a natural wood product, the colour darkens over time. You could of course paint over it, or varnish as I prefer to do.
