IKEA UK to support Prince William and The Royal Foundation's new programme Homewards to end homelessness

Prince William has today launched Homewards, a five-year locally led programme which will demonstrate that together it is possible to end homelessness: making it rare, brief, and unrepeated.

Homewards will take a transformative approach to the issue of homelessness and put collaboration at its heart, giving six flagship locations new space, tools, and relationships to showcase what can be achieved through a collective effort focused on preventing homelessness in their areas.

In a modern and progressive society, everyone should have a safe and secure home, be treated with dignity and given the support they need. Through Homewards, I want to make this a reality and over the next five years, give people across the UK hope that homelessness can be prevented when we collaborate.

IKEA UK will as an activator be working with The Royal Foundation’s new programme to support its mission. Together with organisations from a range of sectors and industries, IKEA will contribute with skills and resources to support the programme to deliver the solutions needed to prevent homelessness.

At IKEA, we want to create a better everyday life for the many people. This ambition goes beyond home furnishing. As well as having a positive impact on people’s home lives, we also want to have a positive impact beyond the four walls of home, in our local communities too.

To continue our commitment to tackle homelessness we are pleased to be supporting The Royal Foundation’s new Homewards programme being launched today. Collaboration is crucial in addressing this issue. Together, we will look to find lasting solutions to prevent homelessness and ensure that everyone has a place to call home.

There are several companies with different owners, working under the IKEA Brand, all sharing the same vision: to create a better everyday life for the many people.

IKEA was founded in Sweden in 1943, and first opened its doors in the UK in Warrington in 1987. Today we have 20 full sized stores, one city store, one Order and Collection Point, and three Plan and Order Points.
