IKEA Birmingham wins Global IKEA Store of the Year

Last night we celebrated an incredible moment in IKEA UK and Ireland, as out of 420 stores in the world and 50 countries, our IKEA Birmingham store, in the heart of the West Midlands, has been voted the best store in the world!

A few months ago, it was announced that IKEA Birmingham was the nominated store of the year for the UK and Ireland and as a result would enter the award for the global IKEA store of the year – an annual recognition created by our beloved founder Ingvar Kamprad. The ceremony hosted in Sweden took place last night and IKEA Birmingham became Store of the year 2022.

It is an absolute high to see the store where I started 20 years ago receive this wonderful recognition. The store is 30 years old, has hosted millions of customers and yet has demonstrated incredible growth, true co-worker togetherness and an outstanding focus on customers. I am so grateful to everyone of the wonderful down to earth, humble and determined co-workers and service providers in the store.

​Liesel Wright, Good Flows Team Manager, one of the long service co-workers at IKEA Birmingham, was also in attendance and said: "What an amazing experience it has been to spend time with the most incredible co-workers from around the globe, sharing ideas, making new friends and learning so much about each other's cultures. So proud of our amazing store and all the Team in Birmingham. All the hard work, dedication and Togetherness have made us what we are today global store of the year!"
