IKEA opens the second of three new-format small stores in the UK in Hall Road Retail Park, Norwich. These small stores offer a simpler, faster shopping experience for customers, with a takeaway food offering allowing meatballs to be enjoyed on-the-go.

IKEA has today, Thursday 28th August 2025, opened its store in Hall Road Retail Park, Norwich, marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Lord Mayor Councillor Paul Kendrick, as well as the store’s around 40-strong team of co-workers. The doors were then opened for the first customers to experience this brand-new format, with a compact layout that’s easy to navigate and designed for everyday convenience.

IKEA Norwich is the second of three new-format small stores to open this year, following the opening of IKEA Harlow in July, and with another small store planned to open in Chester in the coming months.

The new retail park locations are designed to offer a simpler, faster shopping experience for customers, where they can explore inspiring roomsets, shop second-hand finds, and take home a wide range of home furnishings and small furniture items the same day. Dedicated planning services for kitchens and bedrooms are also available, supported by a team of knowledgeable co-workers ready to help customers design their dream spaces.

Our new small store allows customers to shop with IKEA quickly and conveniently – whether they’re seeking home furnishing inspiration, support with planning their dream kitchen, some of our signature meatballs, or just looking to browse. “We are so excited about this new offering in Norwich, and I am so grateful to the community for giving us such a warm welcome today.

IKEA’s arrival in Norwich marks a significant investment in our city’s future, creating new jobs and strengthening our reputation as a thriving retail and business destination. It’s a really positive step forward for our local economy and community.
