Why does my IKEA bed creak?

The creaking of an IKEA bed may be caused by a characteristic of the LURÖY slatted base or its incorrect installation.

If your IKEA bed creaks, it is most likely due to the LURÖY slatted base. In the LURÖY slatted base, the slats are attached to each other with fabric straps, which allows the slatted base to move, for example, when the sleeper turns their side or sits on the bed. The lighter the sleeper and mattress, the more the slatted base can move, which can cause creaking.
It is also important to make sure that the slatted base is installed in the correct orientation. If the slatted base is the wrong way around, it can cause not only creaking but also an uncomfortable sleeping position.
