Which products are suitable for the Second Chance Buyback? 

Simply explained – so that your furniture gets a second chance With the IKEA buy-back service, we make it possible for furniture in good condition to find a new home. In order for this to succeed, there are clear criteria as to which products we accept – and which we don't.

Basic requirements for buyback

In order for your piece of furniture to be repurchased, it must meet the following criteria:

Condition & Quality

  • Good, resalable condition
  • Fully and fully functional
  • Clean and unchanged
  • Properly assembled (assembled when handed in)

Origin & Identification

  • Clearly recognizable as an IKEA product
    • e.g. by logo or product sticker
  • Listed as repurchaseable in the system

Completeness & Ownership

  • Product must be fully owned by you
  • No items:
    • Only complete pieces of furniture are accepted
    • Example: no doors without cabinet body
Important:
We cannot buy back incomplete or incorrectly assembled furniture.

  • Chests of drawers
  • Sideboards
  • Bookcases and shelves
  • Storage Combinations

Office & Workspace

  • Drawer elements for the office
  • Desks
  • Small furniture with drawers

Tables & Furniture

  • Dining tables
  • Small Tische
  • Multimedia furniture

Seating (limited)

  • Chairs and stools
    • unupholstered or with leather

Cabinets & Children's Products

  • Cabinets
  • Furniture for babies and children
    • e.g. baby cots, changing tables

Garden furniture

  • Only without traces of weathering

Non-restockable products

Some products are currently excluded from buyback:

  • Altered, replicated, or damaged products

  • Complete kitchens
  • Kitchen elements such as:
    • Fronts
    • Worktops
  • Electrical appliances

Outdoor use

  • Products with clear signs of use due to outdoor use

Our quality standards

We want all furniture to find a good new home in the Second Chance Market.
Therefore, the following applies:
  • Buyback only for complete, functional furniture
  • Only original IKEA products
  • Focus on reusability and quality

Sustainable Disposal & Return Services

If your product is not suitable for repurchase, we will support you with the disposal.

Pick-up of old furniture (e.g. sofa)

  • Only in combination with the delivery of a new sofa
  • Booking in the same order
  • Lead time: about 7 days
  • Sofa must be ready dismantled

Disposal and collection of your old mattress

  • Service only with delivery
    It is only possible to take your old mattress with you and dispose of it if you buy a new mattress at the same time and a freight forwarding delivery.
  • No parcel delivery
    This service is not available in conjunction with a parcel delivery.
  • No drop-off at the store
    Unfortunately, it is not possible to dispose of your mattress directly in the IKEA store. not possible.
  • Costs
    For disposal, we charge 14,00 € per mattress.
  • Subsequent booking
    For existing orders with the payment methods Klarna or Ratepay this service can be cannot be added afterwards.
  • How the pickup works
    • Our drivers bring a suitable bag for disposal.
    • You pack your old mattress in this bag yourself.
    • We then take the mattress with us and dispose of it professionally in accordance with the legal requirements.

Dismantling & collection

  • Option 1: Disassemble and deploy yourself
  • Option 2: Disassembly service via TaskRabbit
    can be combined with disposal.

Take-back of electrical appliances

  • When buying a new device
  • Old appliance can be taken directly
  • Free service

Disposing of packaging

  • Return to the store
  • Recycling via the Dual System (Green Dot)
  • Drop off at recycling stations at IKEA
