Which products are suitable for buyback? 

With the IKEA buy-back service, we work together to ensure that used IKEA furniture finds a new home. In order for this to succeed, there are clear criteria as to which products we can buy back – and which we cannot.

Basic requirements for buyback

In order for us to buy back a product, it must be all of the following requirements corresponding:
  • Good, resalable condition.
  • Fully and fully functional.
  • Clean, unaltered and properly installed upon return.
  • Clearly recognizable as an IKEA product.
    (e.g. through original product stickers or IKEA logo).
  • Listed as repurchaseable.
In addition, the following applies:
  • The product must be completely in your ownership .
  • We take no individual parts . All elements must be part of a fully assembled piece of furniture (e.g. no doors without a body).

We buy back these product categories

The buyback service is currently available on complete, assembled and functional IKEA furniture from the following categories:
  • chests of drawers,
  • Drawer elements for the office,
  • Small furniture with drawers,
  • Storage combinations,
  • Sideboards,
  • Bookcases and shelves,
  • Small desks,
  • multimedia furniture,
  • Cabinets,
  • dining tables and desks,
  • Chairs and stools (unupholstered or with leather),
  • Furniture for children or babies (e.g. cots, changing tables),
  • Garden furniture without traces of weathering.
Only products from these categories can be considered for a buyback offer.

We are not currently buying back these products

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to accept products from the following categories:
  • Non-IKEA products or items without original product stickers/stamps.
  • Reproduced, modified or crushed products.
  • Products that were used outdoors.
  • Mattresses and bed linen.
  • Sofas and armchairs.
  • Soft furnishing products
    (e.g. pillows, rugs, towels).
  • Upholstered or fabric-covered products.
  • Kitchens including electrical appliances, fronts and worktops.
We are constantly working on expanding our range of products – so it's worth taking a look at the future.

Our claim: Quality for the second chance

With the IKEA buyback service, we want to make sure that used IKEA furniture is stored in good quality can be passed on. That's why we only buy complete, correctly assembled and functional original IKEA products back.
If a piece of furniture cannot be handed over completely or properly assembled, we can unfortunately no buyback offer.

Our packaging makes recycling easy.
Your opportunities:
  • Free return to the IKEA store
  • Disposal in the bins of the Dual System (Grüner Punkt)
  • Drop off at the recycling station in the parking spot of your IKEA store
