How can I get a VAT refund?
You can get a VAT refund after exporting your IKEA products from Germany. You can find all the necessary information here.
VAT refund within the EU
Here you will find information on exporting within the European Union.
VAT refunds within the European Union are only possible for companies.
For the refund, we need the original proof of purchase, a copy of your extract from the commercial register or your business registration, as well as your VAT ID.
In addition, we require written confirmation that the goods have been transported to the rest of the EU (confirmation of arrival) and your bank details with BIC and IBAN.
Refund for a purchase in a furniture store:
If you made a purchase at the store and received a receipt, please contact the customer service of the IKEA store where you made the purchase with the above documents.
It is not necessary to convert your receipt into an invoice using our VAT invoice tool.
The VAT will then be transferred to the account.
Refund for an online purchase:
If you made a purchase online and either picked up your goods via Click & Collect or received them as a delivery, please send the above documents with your bank details - IBAN and BIC - to the following address:

The VAT will then be transferred only to a bank account.
VAT refund outside the EU
Here you can find information for exports outside the European Union.
From a gross amount of 50 euros per receipt, you can have the VAT paid refunded for exports in non-commercial travel.
This limit does not apply to companies, NATO forces and members of diplomatic organizations.
If you export the products in your luggage (e.g. by car or plane), the export must take place before the end of the third calendar month after purchase. Here we work exclusively with the company Global Blue. The colleagues in the IKEA furniture store will explain the process to you and fill out an online form with you. The refund via Global Blue takes place after the goods have been exported. All necessary documents such as the original purchase receipt, proof of residence abroad and an export confirmation from customs must be sent directly to our service provider Global Blue (DE), P.O.Box 363, 81000 Bratislava, Slovakia, regardless of whether the purchase was made online or in a furniture store.
If you have the goods exported to a third country by a freight forwarder, the freight forwarding documents are required in addition to the original purchase receipt.
