What payment methods and financing options does IKEA offer?
With IKEA, you can choose from a variety of payment methods and financing options, whether you're shopping in-store, online on IKEA.de, in the IKEA app or in an IKEA planning studio. The options available to you depend on where you shop and what products or services you want to use.
Payment options in the IKEA store
In our IKEA stores, you can choose from a wide range of payment methods. You can pay with cash, debit card, credit card (VISA, Mastercard or American Express), IKEA gift or prepaid card, as well as various financing offers.
We also accept the IKEA Family credit card and the IKEA for Business payment card. Existing IKEA Family payment cards or IKEA credit cards can still be used, even if they can no longer be applied for.
Please note that cash payments are limited to an amount of €10,000 due to legal requirements. Social travel certificates are also not accepted in all furniture stores.
Pay for deliveries and Click & Collect after shopping in the store
If you're planning a delivery or Click & Collect order at the store, an IKEA employee can create a separate online payment link for you. This payment link will give you additional payment options, including purchase on account with Ratepay for orders of €1,000 or more.
When purchasing on account with Ratepay, the goods are only handed over upon presentation of a valid photo ID. If another person is to accept the order, he or she needs a Completed power of attorney and your own ID.
Payment options in IKEA planning studios
In our planning studios, you can conveniently pay with Klarna purchase on account, credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, financing services, IKEA gift or prepaid cards, as well as with the IKEA Family credit card or the IKEA for business payment card.
Please note that cash payment is not possible in planning studios.

When shopping on IKEA.de, you can choose from a variety of secure online payment methods. These include:
- Klarna Purchase on Invoice

Payment options in the IKEA app
You can also pay flexibly in the IKEA app. Here you can choose from credit cards, debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, financing offers, IKEA gift and prepaid cards and the IKEA Family credit card, among other things.
Please note that IKEA gift and prepaid cards cannot currently be used for purchases via the Shop & Go function.
Financing options for larger projects
If you are planning larger living projects, a new kitchen or extensive furnishing projects, we offer various financing options.
IKEA Family Credit Card
The former IKEA credit card and the IKEA Family payment card can still be used, but will no longer be reissued. As a current solution, IKEA offers theIKEA Family Credit Card. It can be used for both private and business purchases at IKEA and can be conveniently used online or in stores.
With the IKEA Family Credit Card, you get a number of benefits: there's no annual fee, flexible financing options, and you can pay for your IKEA purchases according to your needs.
0% financing is part of the IKEA Family credit card
With 0% financing, you can conveniently pay for your IKEA purchases in monthly installments, without additional interest or processing fees. Financing is done via the IKEA Family credit card and is available for purchases of €99 or more.
After your purchase, you have up to 30 days to convert it into 0% financing. Depending on the purchase value, different terms are available. Typically, financing over 3, 10 or 20 months is possible. For higher amounts, longer terms of up to 36 or 48 months can also be offered.
Installment financing
For larger projects, IKEA also offers classic installment financing.
Pros:
- Financing amounts from €800 to €20,000
- Terms between 12 and 84 months
- Fixed monthly installments
- Up to 10 weeks for your IKEA purchases after signing the contract
- Easy to apply for online
If a payment doesn't work
If an online payment fails, first check the payment information you entered. Make sure that your name, card number, and security code are entered correctly, and that you have enough credit or credit limit.
If you still can't pay, we recommend that you try a different payment method or contact your bank or payment provider.
If coupons or discount codes are not accepted
Many coupons, coupons, and discount codes have a limited validity or are only valid for certain products. Therefore, first check the redemption conditions and expiration date.
Please also note:
- Gift and prepaid cards are only entered at the end of the payment process.
- Promotional cards, for example from the IKEA Advent calendar, can usually only be redeemed in the store.
- If there are several vouchers, technical problems can occasionally occur. In this case, a new payment process or entering the codes one after the other often helps.
Problems with a payment link
If a sent payment link cannot be opened, simple measures often help:
- Use a different browser,
- Copy the link directly into the browser line,
- Clear cache and cookies,
- Temporarily disable ad blockers,
- Try again at a later time.
Problems paying in the IKEA app
If a payment in the IKEA app doesn't work, you can contact customer service directly from the shopping cart.
Simply enter "Problems with the payment process" in the chat. This will help you quickly find the right support and we will help you to complete your purchase successfully.
