How to prepare your home for an IKEA kitchen installation: 11 key steps

This guide is packed with useful tips and information to help you smoothly navigate the installation of your new IKEA kitchen by our technicians. It is based on our terms and conditions as well as the best practices we’ve gathered directly from the field.

To ensure everything goes smoothly and without any issues, we’ve prepared some important information and recommendations for you. Please take a moment to review them and make sure everything is ready before our technicians arrive.
Before the technicians arrive
1. Please check the delivered items, especially appliances, to ensure they are in good condition. If you notice any defects, make sure to record all damages on the carrier’s delivery note. We also recommend thoroughly inspecting the remaining items within 24 hours of delivery.
2. If you are not feeling well, please consider rescheduling the service or arranging for a substitute person to be present. This measure helps us prevent potential illnesses among our installation teams and avoid delays for other customers.
3. It is essential to ensure parking at the installation site. If parking is paid, the cost will be covered by IKEA. 💙

On the day of installation, the workspace must be prepared
4. The installers must have access to running water and a functioning lockable toilet.
5. The room temperature must not be lower than 18°C. Adequate space for the installation must be provided.
6. The electrical wiring in the area must include outlets. A functional 230 V power connection and a 400 V supply for the cooktop, fitted with a terminal block and cable for connecting the cooktop, must be provided.
7. Water pipes must be fitted with angle valves at the sink installation location. No installations should be present in the dishwasher area.
8. The gas connection must be fitted with a shut-off valve and a hose of sufficient length.
9. Ensure that the installation process is not interrupted by other construction or specialist work at the site, or by the delivery of materials or goods.
10. The customer (or a responsible person) must be present for the entire installation. At the end, please check and accept the work, confirming it with your signature on the handover report. If any damage occurs to the products or the customer’s property, record everything in the report.

After the installation is complete
11. Please provide a sufficiently large container for sorted waste. If you do not provide your own waste container, the installers will only sort the waste and leave it on site.
