How does the “Standard freight delivery” option works at IKEA?

To use this service, add your desired items to the cart and select the "Standard Delivery" option at checkout. Choose your preferred delivery day, enter your contact details and address and confirm your order. You will then receive a confirmation email and an SMS with all the delivery details. On the day of delivery, make sure that access is free and that an adult (over 18 years old) is present. The delivery driver will deliver your items to the designated room of your choice. If you find any problems, such as missing or damaged items, inform the driver directly on site and then contact IKEA customer service.

Ordering process

a. Put the items you want in your shopping cart and choose the “Standard delivery” option at checkout. The system will automatically select either parcel delivery or freight delivery depending on the weight and size of the items in your cart.
b. Choose your preferred delivery day and enter your contact details along with your address.
c. At checkout, depending on your postcode, you can choose between 4-hour or 6-hour delivery time windows.
d. Confirm your order and check that your payment details and delivery information are correct.
Please make sure the package sizes will fit into your home (for example, through doors or the stairwell).
e. Request changes to your order as early as possible to avoid additional fees.
  • Changes to items, as well as changes to date, time, or delivery location, depend on how far along your order is.
Use the “Track and manage order” tool to check the status of your delivery.
f. If you want to cancel your order, you can do so through your IKEA Family profile or by contacting IKEA Customer Service.

Order processing and confirmation

a. You will receive a confirmation by e-mail and/or SMS with your chosen delivery time window and contact information.
b. Make sure you can be present during the chosen delivery time window.

On the day of delivery

a. A professional driver will contact you 30–60 minutes before arrival. If you miss the call, the driver will still try to make the delivery.
b. Please make sure there is sufficient, clear, and safe access to your apartment or house.
c. Make sure an adult (over 18) is present for the entire delivery period to supervise and inspect the delivery. If no one is home and the driver cannot make contact, the delivery will be marked as failed. In that case, you must contact IKEA Customer Service to arrange a new delivery date. Additional costs may apply from the third delivery attempt onwards.
d. Have your order confirmation and contact details ready.
e. The driver will bring your items into your home and place them in the room you requested.
f. Compare the delivered packages with your invoice and check them for damage. The driver will report any packaging damage to IKEA, but you can also contact Customer Service yourself if you need further assistance.

After delivery

a. Report any discrepancies (e.g., damaged or missing items) immediately to the delivery driver and then contact IKEA Customer Service if you need further help.
b. If access to the apartment is unsafe or blocked, the driver cannot complete the delivery. In this case, IKEA will contact you to arrange a new delivery date.
