Do I need to be at home for my IKEA delivery?
Find out whether you need to be present for your IKEA delivery, including information about drop-off authorisation for parcel deliveries and the rules for truck deliveries.
It depends on the type of delivery.
Parcel delivery (Austrian Post)
You do not necessarily need to be at home if you have given a drop-off authorisation.
How it works
- You give Austrian Post permission to leave the parcel.
- The parcel will be left at an agreed location.
- The drop-off authorisation is arranged directly through our service partner, Austrian Post.

Important: IKEA accepts no liability for lost or damaged parcels if a drop-off authorisation has been issued.
Truck delivery (large furniture & larger orders)
For a truck delivery, a drop-off authorisation is not possible.
You or an authorised person must be present at the time of delivery to:
- accept the goods
- confirm receipt in writing
If you cannot be present, we recommend rescheduling your delivery date in good time.
