Super creaky, don't buy!Anonymous reviewerI bought these with the STJÄRNÖ bedframe. At first they were great, easy to assemble and comfortable.
But about two weeks ago they started to creak. I knew some reviewers said they were noisy, but I thought surely it couldn't be *that* bad...
I weigh less than 50kg and only use my bed ~7 hours a night. The creaking is so bad that it wakes me up throughout the night, and it's impossible to even shift without making a racket.
It even creaks loudly when the cat walks on the bed!
I came back to this page just to say: I definitely would not recommend to ANYONE! Very disappointed in IKEA. They clearly know this product is faulty and refuse to fix it. Waste of £25.1
Luroy Slatted bed base.Anonymous reviewerThis bed base is solid wood, thick, strong, high quality, but at the same time, very comfortable especially when you have a good quality mattress on the top of the base. Well worth the money and is a long term investment.5
DO NOT BUY Anonymous reviewerAbsolute awful slats, plus the wrong size for the bed we bought. These were the slats that were with the boxes of the bed at the pick up point, literally saying to get slats as well, should really be better explanation that they aren’t the size for the bed. The staff were all unhelpful and clueless. This is my 3rd trip to IKEA to finally get this bed sorted, absolute nightmare. Won’t be buying a bed from IKEA ever again. 1
Poor qualityAnonymous reviewerI am returning this bed and the slats. The slats are so thin and creaky (as other reviwers had said). Regret not checking reviews before. Why did they not design the slat system better and give a thicker and traditional slat base? The slats feel thin and unsafe to use - durability is very questionable.1
Not SupportiveAnonymous reviewerThe curve makes the mattress less firm and ruins the effect of having an extra firm mattress. They should offer simple solid slats like they used to.1
SLATTED BED BASE!!!Anonymous reviewerAssembly Directions Need To Be Clearer And More Explanative!!!5
AwfulAnonymous reviewerBought for the malm bed as these are the slats that are advised, put on bed and they make a noise every time my 14 year old son moves! Complete waste of money! We have the same bed for my youngest son and had no issues because the slats are different, now they charge £50 more for the slats you used to get with the bed! Extremely unhappy!1
NOISEYAnonymous reviewerI feel so noisey when i change my style or position for sleep. Can you please visit my house for check which thing is faulty my bed or slatted bed base.1
Bad they break so easily Anonymous reviewerBreak so easily 1
Second time buying theseAnonymous reviewerDecent slats for the price. One of the slats the first time around cracked, but not significantly and we used them for many years before deciding to replace them. Just bought a second set and they’ve been good for far. Not as creaky as the first set. 4
Creaky!Anonymous reviewerI bought the luroy slats to use with the Tonstad bed, having previously used them or similar on a Malm bed. The reviews which said they were creaky weren't kidding. They were horrendously creaky with the Tonstad bed. In my opinion, Ikea shouldn't be suggesting they are suitable for the Tonstad bed as they are not fit for purpose. After one night of very loud creaking everytime I moved even slightly, I returned them and paid an additional £40 for the Lonset slats. I'm not happy I had to make a second trip to Ikea and pay out additional money but it was either that, return the bed or struggle to get to sleep with the loud creaking noises.2
NoisyAnonymous reviewerExtremely noisy when moving during the night . Wouldn’t buy again 1
Creaky but easy fixAnonymous reviewerThey were super creaky but I fixed it by getting a £5 roll of sealing tape and running it along the rail that the slats sit on. Creaking is 100% gone!5
Not fit for purposeAnonymous reviewerBought it September 2025, for my 17th son and keeps falling apart. Not safe for him to sleep in his bed. Going to return and buy a new steel bed. Too much to handle during the night. IKEA, I believe that something could be improved on this.1
great stuffAnonymous reviewerDoes the job5
Very Creaky and Poor QualityAnonymous reviewerI bought a Songesand king size bed having previously bought malm beds with luroy or equivalent slats that have been good value and sturdy.
First the slats don’t fit the bed well - there’s room for them to move side to side.
But the worse issue with a few days use they start creaking and it gets worse and worse. I took the mattress off and compared the pair of slats and one side seemed misshapen and not sitting well - if you press on them they make a creaky sound. Thinking I had some faulty slats, I switched them round and the other side was quieter, however this only last for a couple of days before these slats also start creaking with every small movement. They are very poor quality which is not what you expect from iKea and my old Ikea beds did not have this problem. AVOID.1
LuroyAnonymous reviewerSuper strong, great value for money5
It worksAnonymous reviewerThe first few nights it would be very squeaky when laying down on your mattress, so if you move a lot during the night expect noise. but gradually it goes away. 10/10 if anything5
Not fit for purposeAnonymous reviewerWe fitted these to our new Tonstad bedframe. They creaked like crazy! Every time my partner turned over he woke me up. We had to upgrade to the Lonset which is much better, but it meant yet another day trip to Ikea. I was slightly regretting not sticking to JL for my bedframe purchase.1
Really good buy.Anonymous reviewerReally pleased with this item. Relatively easy to assemble and looks great in our bedroom. Not inexpensive, but usual very high standard of manufacture we have come to expect from Ikea items.5
