That is why our children’s beds undergo rigorous furniture tests. The industry’s safety standards are very strict, but we take it further. When working with TUFFING, we focused especially on avoiding gaps and openings where small hands and feet can easily get stuck. When we had a model of the bed, it underwent two weeks of intense fatigue tests where the bed frame was continuously exposed to strong forces.

The worst Ikea build experienceAnonymous reviewerHonestly the worst IKEA build we have ever done and we have a lot of Ikea furniture! The fabric makes lining the screws up near impossible unless your bedroom is huge and you can lay the bed on its side.
The price is good but I we paid the price in hours of building time.
Harder than needs to beAnonymous reviewerI do not recommend this item. The stupid netting was constantly causing issues. The hardware was ridiculous. 40 pieces needing to be screwed together before you even start. If you needed to loosen or remove one of said pieces they separated and occasionally fell into the structure. Nightmare to get back out. What should be a simple build was time consuming frustrating and the end result does not feel sturdy. I would never buy this product again.
Ok to assemble, great to use Anonymous reviewerIt isn’t the easiest to assemble but it’s reasonable, the instructions are clear enough. It has the occasional squeak when my son moves around but no more than you would expect from a metal multi piece item of furniture, the secret is to tighten the screws after a while. Overall it’s five stars from me, a whole bed plus mattress and bedding for about £200 is unbeatable value and I intend to take it apart and store it for my second child.

The bed was easy to put together. I am a 5ft 3 women who had some help from my 13 year old daughter. The instructions are clear and providing you follow them you will have no issues.
Poor Assembly Experience – TUFFING Loft BedAnonymous reviewerI have been an IKEA customer for many years and around 75% of my furniture is from IKEA, including a MALM desk, wardrobes, bookcases, drawers, dining set and another bed from my recent order. I've always found your furniture easy to assemble, which is why I continue to buy IKEA.
Unfortunately, the TUFFING loft bed has been the complete opposite. It is the first flat-pack product that has genuinely left me frustrated. The mesh covers the bolt holes, making them difficult to see, the instructions are unclear, some illustrations are confusing, and the internal fixings make disassembly difficult. The mesh was so difficult to work with that I actually had to use scissors to cut it just to access and align the fixings. The amount of packaging also felt excessive.
The bed is sturdy once built, but the assembly experience needs improving. I also need to buy a second TUFFING next month for another child, and I'm honestly not looking forward to assembling it.

Very tricky and faffy.Anonymous reviewerThis is a NIGHTMARE to put together. It took myself and my partner nearly 5 hours to put together, and it’s still not finished! The screw holes don’t align on the ladder and the poles that hold the base slats don’t slot in correctly. I feel like the whole thing is really over-engineered, the netting construction is unnecessarily tricky and the instructions could be so much clearer.
I honestly thought I was good at flat pack before this, it was so frustrating I could’ve cried!
One tip would be to construct the bed slats in a big space as the poles are longer than you think, and keep the screws in your pocket as they’re slippery.
I am a big fan of Ikea furniture so I was really disappointed in this, but maybe you get what you pay for- it’s a decent bed for a good price but overall if I had known how hard this would be to put together I would’ve spent more money on an easier build. I agree with a previous reviewer “Ikea need to rethink this one”.

Everything is straightforward but the arrangement with the netting is very hard to get right. It does appear to make it very sturdy and obviously must have massive cost savings because any other type of panel would be easier than this. But... if you take your time and give yourself a good 4 hour window then you should be fine. I managed 95% on my own but had to get my wife to hold the long bar at the back, as you feed over the fabric and then try to screw in 2 screws either side. No way you're managing that on your own. Only other tricky bit was screwing in mattress support section... I managed this by offering up from bottom and screwing in middle screw one side then other side and then zigzagging back and forth from side to side outwards. A little bit jiggling but got all the screws in. Final piece of the jigsaw was tightening all screws on all sections from bottom up, this really brought it together.

I've been building flat packs for over 40 years and never have I had so much trouble. It could be vastly improved by replacing the side netting with an extra metal bar and the netting for the mattress to sit on is pointless.

The instructions aren’t very clear, and the fabric that goes round the top doesn’t allow you to get the screws in the right place without having to either cut a hole or take it apart and try again. Once it’s assembled the bed is very sturdy but it’s just a complete nightmare to assemble.

Tuffin bedAnonymous reviewerThe design and quality of the bed is actually very impressive but trying to fix it together is unbelievably difficult. The base which the mattress goes on to is virtually impossible to line up! We had yo cut the netting which surrounds the top of the bed! It took roughly 3 hours as we tried all ways to do it without cutting the net. Again, really nice bed for kids because the storage space underneath is very useful, But you will struggle to put this together. I think ikea need to rethink this one!

However, as a person who’s been building Ikea furniture for 2 decades, this is without a shadow of a doubt the single hardest piece of furniture from their store I’ve ever tried to build. If I had to do it over again, I’d buy a different Ikea loft bed for slightly more money as they are noted as being easier builds.

Great bedAnonymous reviewerI ordered 3 of these beds for 1 room for space saving it was this or argos but I likes the look of this one! I was not sure because of the reviews ( I've put stuff together before wardrobes ect) I'm glad to say it all went super well and I'm not sure what others were doing! If you follow the instructions and do not tighten anything up until it says to then it it should work OK I'm assuming people are tightening everything before it says! I started at 10am and finished at 115 with only help from a 5 and 6 year old to hold the bed while wobbling as not done up but I guess you could prop it up! And I didn't put it on its side for the bed part it can be done! I'm a 43 year old female and 5ft 2!

Worst Build Ever - I do mean everAnonymous reviewerAs a seasoned Ikeaist, wardrobe builder extraordinaire, bed builder supreme & all round Swedish 🇸🇪 furniture fan, I feel qualified to say this is the worst Ikea product Ive ever built. The whole mesh, knitting needle threading, macrame mattress support thing is staggeringly bad. I want to see the video of the Ikea guys all sat round laughing when it was signed off. My personal favourite it when you have to tip it onto its edge to attach the mattress support section. To give you some idea just how bad it is, I arrived at my daughters at 2pm. By 2.15pm I had disassembled her old double bed. By 2.45 I had disassembled a bed from then next room & reassembled it. Quick coffee & on to the loft bed. Just finished at 6.30pm. Nearly divorced & feeling a little traumatised. In summary I’d give it a miss.
Great product, difficult to assemble Anonymous reviewerThis is a great bed when you have finally built it. It took 3 hours and that was with people very adept at building furniture. The issue was all down to the netting and the way it fits. Very shocked for an IKEA product to be so difficult to assemble. Also purchased the bunk beds which were almost sent back due to the dread of building them and the dreaded netting. Having said all that I am pleased with the quality of the bed and it’s great for saving space.

Not the simplest build.Anonymous reviewerWe bought this bed to help maximise space in our smallest bedroom which unfortunately meant that we struggled for space when putting it together in situ, due to the need to lay the bed down to fit the mattress supports. The side netting was a bit of hassle to get in place aswell with not much play. Also, be sure not to over tighten the two part screw fixing before the build is complete as the two sides can come apart when unscrewing.
This being said, once up the bed looks the part, feels sturdy and does the job all for not a lot of money.

A bed for new perspectives
Life is pretty good here at the top of the bed. Teasing younger siblings can be kept at a distance, and when mum or dad says good night, the height is just perfect for a hug. Both bunk beds and loft beds are good choices when you want to create more space in a smaller area. With TUFFING, we also managed to make more bed from less material.
We made TUFFING bunk bed and loft bed of stable steel and mesh fabric, and somewhat lower than other bunk beds. It means less use of material and that each bed weighs less to transport.
