Our journey towards zero emission home deliveries
At IKEA, we have committed to cutting carbon emissions in all stages of our value chain – including home deliveries. As part of this ambition, IKEA US is transitioning to zero-emission delivery vehicles for the last-mile delivery of IKEA products to customers’ homes.

Zero-emission vehicles
When we refer to 'zero-emission vehicles’, we are referring to emissions from the tank-to-wheel perspective. This means we are considering only the CO2 emissions generated while the vehicle is in operation, starting from the fuel in the tank and the vehicle's tailpipe emissions. We do not include emissions associated with the production and distribution of the fuel in this context.
What’s our approach?
Our approach to increasing zero-emission deliveries in the U.S. include:
- Increasing zero-emission vehicles through our transportation service partners and those available to our delivery contractors, while continuing to test & try new technologies.
- Expanding EV charging infrastructure to include all IKEA U.S. locations and supporting charger installation at delivery partner locations.
- Advocating for increased legislation and incentives to support both the transition to zero-emission delivery vehicles and creation of zero-emission delivery zones in the U.S.
We’ll continue our journey towards zero-emission home deliveries and our 2030 goals through collaboration, working closely together with business partners and other stakeholders. We hope that by taking action together, we can inspire and enable others to make the transition to zero-emission deliveries too.
