Worst assembly instructionsSandra MarieI’ve assembled a lot of other ikea furnitures in the past but this has to be the worst one yet. Holes were not lining up and when it came to putting the last drawer we could not have it aligned no matter what.1
Easy to build and great qualityAgneInstructions are super clear and easy to follow. Cabinets are super sturdy (if you assemble everything right,of course).
Bought 4 cabinets from tonstad series (all different designs) and I’m very pleased. Didn’t had any problems at all!5
Absolutely love it LiudmylaA wonderful dresser. I was able to fit three boxes into my small Mini Clubman, so I didn't even need a delivery service. I assembled it quickly and easily—all by myself—despite being a woman who weighs only 100 pounds. The assembly instructions were clear and straightforward. And best of all, I absolutely love the color of this dresser. I am very happy. Thank you.5
color mismatchYuHi order this dresser. After see the reviews from other people complaining the difficulty of installation, I paid for the installation from Taskrabbit offered by Ikea. I thought I will get everything solved. The installation went well. However, I observed something that I didn't expect from Ikea: The color of one drawer is apparently different from the other 5. This is totally unacceptable! What is the point to get a new furniture from Ikea with such issue?2
Expert level assembly YogeshThe product is solid. Only issue is the assembly. Within ikea this has to be a pro to expert level assembly. You need to be really patient and give attention to details. Tip: Always match holes on diagram and the part. 5
WORST piece that I bought from IkeaElinaI have a lot of Ikea furniture assembled all of them myself (female with engineering PHd) and it was always easy and fun. But this one is the WORST piece I purchased/assembled.
Clearly Ikea wants you to use professional assembly service :( for $78 for $399
Fst: the whole piece is extremely heavy - around 90 kg (3 boxes) - thick and cheap plywood not cut properly. It takes hammer and brutal force to put parts together :( And while you do it (gently and with carton in between), parts easily break. And forget about assembling it alone - you'll need at least two strong men since the whole construction is heavy.
Snd: Assembly hardware is mostly cheap plastic. While you assemble the drawers, hammer is needed again. Parts break, drawers don't fit properly.
Trd: the whole frame seems to be robust after assembly, but it's nested on some flimsy plastic screws and I would not recommend to move the chest after it's assembled. Also, drawers don't fit properly, not like in the store.1
Cheap Quality & Frustrating ExperienceLisaThis is definitely one of the more complicated builds for IKEA due to needing a drill but still manageable. My biggest issue is that you basically have to perfectly nail it on the very first try of each step because everything is held together by pegs and particle board and the tolerance for all of the pieces is non existent. Trying to slide in the particle board in the back nearly snapped in half because the eddges aren't smooth and the amount of force you need to use to force it in can also backfire and break.
Being in the last steps of finally putting the drawers in, they also use particle board to connect the drawer onto the sliding rails and now the drawers are falling apart. I need to figure out if we can get replacement parts for just the drawers.
I think better materials for the high friction areas would go a long way with a dresser like this. I'll keep it because it's too much of a pain to return it but would not recommend.2
Worst ikea purchase I’ve madeAnonymous reviewerI have a lot of ikea furniture - cabinets, dressers, night stands, book cases, etc. Needless to say I’ve built a bunch of it and I’ve always come back because it’s gone well. But this is literally the worst piece I’ve bought. Parts of every single drawer were breaking as I put it together. I literally had to tape and glue to make it work. And the end result is so sad looking. I wish they used better quality pieces and the soft close hinges from their other products because these completely suck. Would recommend buying a different one of their dressers for sure. 1
Looks nice, not very stableJoshuaBiggest problem with this unit is the top is only held on by plastic pieces that slide together. So if you try and move the unit, it's very easy for the top to pop off and it's a major hassle to get it back together.
Wish the top was more secured, then this would be a solid piece of ikea furniture.3
Poor instructions not worth the timeRegineThe pieces to build this appear sturdy, but the poor instructions along with the pieces that clearly need to go through a quality assurance check do not make this product worth it. We’ve built many ikea pieces, but this one was just not worth it. Given these issues, this product might be more of a safety hazard if you’re trying to (but unsuccessfully) putting it together. Would not recommend.1
Nice dresserBrookeThis is the nicest dresser you can buy at IKEA. However, if you don't have someone who knows how to put furniture together level or a handy guy or woman it will be difficult for you. This requires 2 people about 3 hours for proper assembly.5
Love this Dresser!EmilySwitched from the ikea malm 6-drawer dresser and the quality on this dresser is way better. Wasn’t too complicated to put together if you use the directions for each step. Took a little time to assemble but worth it! The drawers have soft close which I absolutely love!! 5
Worst purchase everMingtaoIt's just impossible to assemble. The instructions in the manual are useless; if you follow them, the only thing you can trust is your luck. You will end up assemble and dis-assemble again and over again1
Looks expensive and feels incredibly solidPaigeSet aside a couple of hours to build this, stay patient and take the time to look at the illustrations for each step before screwing anything in, and you'll be totally fine! The quality is even better than pictured imo, and the low price reflects the work required to put it together. The other dressers we were considering were $1k+ more, and I'm so glad we went with this one. Highly rec!5
Very niceSeanI was a bit hesitant to purchase this dresser after reading some of the reviews, but I’m glad I did. The assembly went together smoothly and was much easier than expected. The instructions were clear, and all the parts fit well.
The oak finish looks very nice and gives the dresser a clean, modern appearance. Overall, it feels solid and well-made for the price. I would definitely recommend this dresser.5
Very nice and high qualityReynaldoGood product very sturdy5
Awful to put togetherCurtisI don't know why IKEA felt the need to go away from the mechanics that worked, but this dresser is awful to put together. Having to slide all the pieces into place moves the whole structure, thus breaking the other pieces. When you finally get it together, getting the drawers in is impossible. I don't know why they went away from the wheel and track style of drawer system, but they need to go back because this slide in does not work and is the worst thing I have had to deal with when it comes to IKEA furniture. I will never buy another piece of furniture is this is the mechanism that is used to slide the drawer in and out. Just awful.1
Awful to put togetherChaseAs a long time customer and assembler of IKEA furniture, I’ve never purchased a piece of furniture this hard to put together. The particle board is rough, making it difficult to slide the pieces together without snagging/cracking, and the drawers are especially awful. And even though I persevered, even though I triple checked my work to make sure I did everything right, at the end 2 of the six drawers don’t quite line up, making it so they don’t close all the way. So disappointed.1
Beautiful DresserPatriciaLove this dresser! It is solid and love the light oak color for our guest room! The assembly was slightly harder than other Ikea products we have put together but certainly not difficult. Just need to pay attention to orientation of pieces. I did it myself in a couple hours with help just with standing it up and moving it as it very heavy.5
Great DresserHannahWe love this dresser for our sons room! His room is small and this was the perfect in-between size to give maximum storage without being too wide or too tall for him to reach the top drawers. I opened all the dressers in store and this was better quality than most. I went in planning to buy Hemnes 6 drawer chest, but this one felt more sturdy. Also, loved a light wood grain option. Install took my husband and me about 2.5 hours, but was straight forward. We didn't run into any issues.5
