The bracket is reversible and fits both 7⅞ and 11¾" deep shelves, depending on which side of the bracket you choose to mount the shelf on.

Mount the short side on a 7⅞" deep shelf and the long side on a 11⅞" deep shelf.
If using only 2 brackets on a 47¼" shelf, the distance between the brackets should be 27½-31½".

Do NOT buy!CristenSince these brackets are thicker in the middle each hole needs a different screw size. No these screws are not included and it is impossible to find which kind to use. Don't be fooled by the cheap price, you'll pay for it in time and money getting the right hardware.

Difficult to install bracketsAnonymous reviewerThe brackets look good, but they are difficult to install because depth of these brackets is not uniform. You need at least 2 or 3 different lengths of screws to accommodate the different depths of the bracket. The top screw of the bracket, that attaches to the wall, needs to be ridiculously long so that it goes through about 0.5-1 inch of bracket AND so it goes into the wall deep enough to catch securely. I had to use such a mishmash of screws to make things work. I'm writing this after finally installing 1 shelf with 3 brackets, and starting the 2nd but failing for the same reasons the first took forever. I am strongly considering taking these brackets down and just going to Home Depot for something else.

Good price for something built to lastAnonymous reviewerI wanted to put a shelf up and needed something strong enough to support lots of weight but I didn't have much money to spend and didn't want to buy the plastic brackets. These brackets are actually pretty heavy because they are made from aluminum but it's really thick at first I thought it was coated steel. Best part is they only cost $2 instead of paying $7 or more each bracket.

Really nice sturdy shelf bracketsCreusetOf all the brackets that IKEA sells over the years this has been my favorite. They are unintrusive and slim in profile but also incredibly strong because they are metal. I try to buy them up when I see them but other people probably feel the same because they are off and out of stock. I think they are slightly more expensive than plastic ones but definitely worth it and cheaper than what you can buy in other places still
