The item is taller than the side of the shelf, but be sure to only take off part of the sticky side and it is a perfect addition to the shelf. Sticky or not stickyClaritaBought these to hold keys and it did not stick to the wall. I let it cure to stick for 24hrs prior to setting the keys on there. It fell off. I would buy command strips to stick these on
